On the 30th, Korea Western Power held an “AI Co-Worker Day” event at its headquarters in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, and officially unveiled “Wipibot,” a next-generation generative AI platform developed based on KONAN TECHNOLOGY INCORPORATION’s technical expertise. The event was held under the slogan, “Starting today, AI is a true colleague on our team.”
The “Wipibot” development project, which KONAN TECHNOLOGY INCORPORATION secured in August of last year, was designed as an AI platform specialized for power generation operations based on advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. It was trained on approximately 1 million pieces of Western Power’s core internal information, including power generation, safety, electronic approvals, company regulations, and operational procedures.
Wipibot, which is scheduled for company-wide implementation, is significant in that it goes beyond a simple information search tool to directly implement an agent-based AI environment—capable of autonomous decision-making and task execution—into actual work processes. Employees can select from a “three-tier language model system”—△ General Mode (general tasks and information retrieval), △ Inference Mode (complex queries and in-depth analysis), and △ Real-time Mode (reflecting the latest data)—depending on the type and purpose of their query, to receive support for complex intelligent data processing.
Furthermore, by seamlessly integrating with core information systems—such as drafting internal ERP journal entries and predicting vessel operations—the AI independently recognizes and assists with business processes, dramatically shortening administrative procedures and enhancing operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, the “Mobile Wipibot” enables use on portable mobile devices, maximizing usability for field workers. It also supports the analysis of on-site photos at power plants using a Large Visual Language Model (LVLM) to automatically generate draft risk assessments.
KONAN TECHNOLOGY INCORPORATION is strengthening its leadership in the AI transformation of the public and energy sectors by diversifying its collaboration with major domestic power generation companies and power-related organizations, such as KoreaElectricPower (KEPCO).
Kim Young-seom, CEO of KONAN TECHNOLOGY INCORPORATION, stated, “The launch of Wipibot is a meaningful achievement resulting from the combination of Korea Western Power’s innovative commitment to implementing Agent AI that serves as a practical colleague at power plant sites and our company’s technological capabilities.” He added, “We will continue to provide AI solutions optimized for the public and energy sectors and lead the industry standard with our ‘energy-specialized AI agent’ technology.”
