HANTECH LTD. Partners with Another Company to Develop Key Components for Next-Generation Molten Salt Reactors

[Edaily Reporter KIM JI-WAN ] #HANTECH LTD., an affiliate of FOOSUNG CO.,LTD., has formed a partnership with DAECHANG SOLUTION CO.,LTD., Clad Korea, and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Gyeongsang National University to collaborate on the development of core components for next-generation advanced molten salt reactors (MSRs).

HANTECH LTD. announced on the 3rd that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DAECHANG SOLUTION CO.,LTD., Clad Korea, and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Gyeongsang National University on the 30th of last month to “collaborate on the development of core equipment for next-generation advanced molten salt reactors.”

This agreement was established to strengthen the framework for technological exchange and cooperation among the participating organizations in the field of core equipment for molten salt reactors, as well as to facilitate the exchange of information on future related projects and markets and to identify opportunities for joint ventures.

Under this agreement, HANTECH LTD. will be responsible for manufacturing pressure and storage vessels; DAECHANG SOLUTION CO.,LTD. for casting materials for high-temperature valves; Clad Korea for ultra-corrosion-resistant laser cladding and piping; and Gyeongsang National University for the measurement, analysis, and evaluation of nuclear power plant equipment, thereby establishing a collaborative supply chain system.

The Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) is a fourth-generation next-generation reactor that uses high-temperature molten salt as a coolant and is gaining attention for its safety and efficiency compared to existing nuclear power plants. A key feature is that, in the event of an accident, the nuclear fuel is trapped within solidified salt, minimizing the risk of radioactive leakage.

Key components require various technical evaluations, including high-temperature structural stability, corrosion resistance, thermal stress, and cladding applicability. In particular, they have significant growth potential as they can be utilized in diverse fields, such as floating power plants (including offshore data centers), multi-purpose vessels, and submarines.
