WINIX INC. Reports Strong Performance in Electronics Division… 'Green Light' for Second-Half Earnings

First-Quarter Revenue of 123.1 Billion… Up 30 Billion Year-Over-Year Electronics Division Grows 169% in the First Quarter "Growth in Home Appliance Exports… Expectations for Improved Profitability"

[Edaily Reporter KIM EUNG-TAE ] Home appliance brand WINIX INC.(044340)is set to launch new home appliance products and strengthen its network of company-owned stores in the second half of this year. The company’s strategy is to focus on improving the profitability of its electronics business, building on steady export growth in products such as air purifiers and hot and cold water dispensers.

According to WINIX INC. on the 3rd, consolidated revenue for the first quarter of this year totaled 123.1 billion won, an increase of 30 billion won compared to the previous year. The revenue increase was largely driven by the inclusion of 34.4 billion won in revenue from Parata Airlines in the consolidated results, which had not been reflected last year. WINIX INC. explained that the operating loss recorded in the first quarter of this year was also a result of costs incurred during the initial stabilization of Parata Airlines’ operations.
Revenue from the electronics business segment, excluding the aviation business, was 88.7 billion won, a decrease of 4.4 billion won year-over-year. Analysts note that, considering the special factor last year—when revenue from the U.S. subsidiary temporarily increased by over 10 billion won due to the wildfires in Los Angeles (LA)—the company maintained stable growth in the first quarter of this year as well.
Operating profit for the electronics division in the first quarter was 2.9 billion won, a 169% increase year-over-year. Amid steady growth in exports of hot and cold water dispensers to Japan and air purifiers to the U.S., cost reductions and operational efficiencies are seen as contributing to the improvement in profitability.
WINIX INC. stated, “Building on the overall trend of improved performance, the Electronics Division plans to continue expanding new product launches in the second half of this year and strengthen the domestic headquarters’ direct sales channels to enhance distribution competitiveness and profitability.”
The spokesperson added, “Parata Airlines has firmly established itself in the market, ranking first in international flight load factor just six months after its first commercial flight and recently securing numerous highly profitable flight rights to China from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.” They also clarified, “While we are exploring various options to secure funding, reports from some quarters regarding a planned third-party private placement are not true.”
