[E-Daily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] SamsungElectronics’ Wind-Free air conditioner, first introduced in 2016, has marked its 10th anniversary. SamsungElectronics announced on the 5th that it is expanding the supply of Wind-Free air conditioners to major global regions, including Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The company plans to target the global business-to-business (B2B) market with products tailored to specific market needs.
SamsungElectronics is expanding its air conditioner supply in Europe—where demand has surged due to heat waves—with a focus on premium hotels. In Europe, air conditioner installation conditions are often stringent, particularly because many buildings require the preservation of cultural heritage elements during installation.
In April of this year, SamsungElectronics supplied high-efficiency heating and cooling solutions to the “Hotel Marriott Trieste” in Trieste, Italy. This hotel is housed in the “Palazzo Fulle,” a historic building in Trieste, Italy, that was remodeled. The installation required the preservation of the building’s cultural heritage elements. With a compact design measuring just 204 mm in height, this product is easy to install and highly space-efficient, allowing the company to minimize damage to cultural heritage even in challenging installation environments.
In addition, the DVM S2+ (R32) large-scale system air conditioner outdoor unit, supplied alongside the indoor units, can connect up to 64 indoor units to a single outdoor unit. This minimizes the installation footprint and prevents damage to the building’s exterior. The unit uses the low-flammability “R32 refrigerant” and incorporates a refrigerant leak detection sensor and a leak shut-off device, ensuring a high level of safety.
In January of this year, SamsungElectronics also supplied the DVM S2 (R410A) large-scale system air conditioner outdoor unit and the commercial “Wind-Free 1-Way” ceiling-mounted cassette air conditioners to the “Hotel Esmeralda” in Calpe, Spain. The DVM S2 (R410A) is equipped with the “Active AI” feature, which learns the surrounding environment in real time to save energy and provide optimal heating and cooling performance.
SamsungElectronics is expanding the supply of its Wind-Free air conditioners not only in Europe but also in key global markets such as Asia and Latin America. Starting this month in Vietnam, in partnership with “CapitaLand”—Asia’s largest real estate group—the company is supplying wall-mounted Wind-Free air conditioners and Wind-Free 4-Way cassette units to approximately 3,000 households, including high-rise apartments and single-family homes, as part of the redevelopment project for the Sycamore residential complex in Ho Chi Minh City’s new town.
In Central and South America, starting next month, the company plans to supply more than 1,000 indoor units—including Wind-Free 1-Way ceiling-mounted cassettes and wall-mounted air conditioners—to “Paseo 55,” a super-tall mixed-use complex and new landmark in Paraguay. For the residential complexes, the company aims to establish an integrated control and energy management environment by implementing the AI-based B2B solution “SmartThings Pro.”
In the global market, SamsungElectronics’ Wind-Free air conditioners are highly regarded for creating a draft-free sleeping environment and delivering energy savings. They ranked first in consumer satisfaction in the “Best Value for Money 2026” survey for Italy, published by the German Institute for Quality and Finance (ITQF). SamsungElectronics has ranked first for six consecutive years in the major home appliance sector, which includes air conditioners and refrigerators, and has also ranked first for three consecutive years in the heat pump sector. In particular, its Wind-Free air conditioners received high marks for ease of use and energy efficiency, earning recognition for their unparalleled Wind-Free technology.
Lim Seong-taek, Executive Vice President of SamsungElectronics’ DA Business Division, said, “We are expanding global sales based on the Wind-Free technology we have accumulated over the past 10 years,” adding, “We will continue to grow our influence in the global HVAC market by leveraging differentiated B2B solutions such as AI technology and SmartThings Pro.”
