[E-Daily Reporter Hyera Lee ] GalaxiaMoneytree Co.,Ltd.(094480)announced on the 6th that it had conducted a proof of concept (PoC) for stablecoin payments in collaboration with U-Cube and the Korea Medical Tourism Promotion Association to improve payment convenience for foreign visitors using domestic medical tourism services.
This PoC was designed to verify whether it could reduce inconveniences—such as currency exchange fees, overseas card authorization issues, payment failures, and settlement delays—that foreign nationals encounter when booking and using domestic medical services. Based on U-Cube’s global medical service booking platform “U-Cube Medi,” GalaxiaMoneytree Co.,Ltd. was responsible for the stablecoin payment test environment and operational processes, while the Korea Medical Tourism Promotion Association supported the expansion of the medical tourism ecosystem and the establishment of a cooperative framework.
During the pilot, stablecoin payments were applied to the medical service booking process for foreign patients to assess technical and operational feasibility. The project also verified the stability of settlements between the platform and partner institutions following payment approval, as well as systems for customer guidance, payment confirmation, cancellations and refunds, and settlement data management.
A representative from GalaxiaMoneytree Co.,Ltd. explained that since stablecoins can reduce currency conversion costs and processing delays in cross-border payments, they have high potential for use in the medical tourism sector, which involves various payment stages such as advance reservations, deposits, final payments, and refunds.
GalaxiaMoneytree Co.,Ltd. official stated, “Through this PoC, we confirmed the potential for stablecoin payments to improve access to domestic services for foreign visitors,” adding, “We plan to expand the scope of the pilot beyond medical tourism to various online and offline service sectors popular among foreign visitors.”
GalaxiaMoneytree Co.,Ltd. is also preparing to introduce benefit-based prepaid cards and cashback cards as part of a project to attract foreign patients, led by the Korea Medical Tourism Promotion Association and U-Cube.
