[Edaily Reporter Kim Seung-kwon ] Medical artificial intelligence (AI) specialist JLK, Inc.(322510)announced on the 7th that it has been selected as a participating company in the “2026 Public Innovation Demand-Based Innovative Product Technology Development Project (Pilot Purchase-Linked)” led by the Public Procurement Service.
This project, which will receive approximately 1 billion won in government-funded R&D funding through June 30, 2028, is an AI-based public healthcare innovation initiative aimed at securing the “golden hour” for treating emergency stroke patients and bridging regional disparities in medical care.
Building on its experience operating the existing mobile stroke platform “FASTRO,” JLK, Inc. plans to develop a next-generation platform that integrates medical image sharing, AI analysis results, inter-professional collaboration among medical staff, and patient transport decision-making support into a single platform.
Through this platform, medical staff will be able to comprehensively review a patient’s medical images, clinical information, available treatment facilities, and transport distance, enabling them to make faster and more optimized decisions regarding treatment and patient transport.
Participants in this project—including △Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, △Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Icheon Hospital, △Espo Hospital, and △Chonnam National University Hospital—will conduct multi-regional pilot tests covering the Seoul metropolitan area, North Gyeongsang Province, and the Honam region. The project aims to verify the platform’s performance and usability in real emergency medical settings and confirm its effectiveness in improving the efficiency of collaborative care and reducing treatment decision-making times.
This project is particularly significant because it goes beyond mere research and development to include actual deployment in public healthcare settings. JLK, Inc. plans to pursue public procurement with public medical institutions during the research period and expects to expand the platform’s adoption to public medical institutions such as regional medical centers and local emergency medical centers, thereby contributing to the establishment of a cross-regional collaborative care system and the digital transformation of public healthcare.
Recently, JLK, Inc. was selected as the lead research and development institution for a medical device R&D project worth a total of 5 billion won and for an inter-ministerial medical device R&D project, and has now been tasked with this public innovation project as well. In particular, by conducting R&D based on existing stroke solutions and mobile platforms, the company expects to reduce the costs and time required for new development while simultaneously increasing R&D efficiency and commercialization potential.
