U.S. entertainment media outlets Deadline and Variety reported on the 6th (local time) that AI actress Tilly Wood will star in the comedy film “Miss Aligned.”
The film is being produced by Particle6, a British production company founded by Dutch actress and producer Elin van der Velden. Particle6 is the AI-specialized studio that created Tilly Wood.
According to the reports, “Miss Aligned” begins when a malicious bot on the dark web tempts Tilly Nowood—an AI with neither a physical body nor a childhood—with the promise to “become human.” The film explores the AI’s desires and inner turmoil. It is currently in the early stages of development and is set to be produced through collaboration between traditional film professionals—such as directors and screenwriters—and AI experts.
Tilly Nowood is an AI actress with a British accent who was first introduced at an event at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland last October. In response to the emergence of AI actors, the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) issued a statement declaring, “Nowood is not an actor.”
The Hollywood union strongly criticized the move, stating, “This will create problems by stealing actors’ performances, taking away their jobs, threatening performers’ livelihoods, and undermining human artistry.”
In response, Particle6 producer Elin van der Velden said, “Just as we directed ‘Elsa’ (the protagonist of ‘Frozen’) in an animated film, we can also direct computer-generated (CG) characters.”
