[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] SamsungElectronics(005930)and SK hynix(000660)are both showing a rare simultaneous rise in early trading. According to MP Doctor on the 9th, as of 9:22 a.m. today, SK hynix is trading at 2,263,000 won, up 187,000 won (9.01%) from the previous trading day. Amid concerns over a “semiconductor peak-out,” SK hynix had closed lower on every trading day this month except for the 3rd (up 10.88%), causing its stock price to drop by nearly 20% this month alone. The stock price, which stood at 2.56 million won earlier this month, had fallen to 2.076 million won at the previous trading day’s close. However, with a strong rebound today, the stock has quickly recovered to the 2.2 million won range. SKSQUARE is trading at 1.37 million won, up 100,000 won (7.87%) from the previous close. At the same time, SamsungElectronics is trading at 290,000 won, up 12,500 won (4.50%). SamsungElectronics had also fallen from 314,500 won at the beginning of this month to a closing price of 277,500 won the previous day. This is believed to be due to the strong rebound in the semiconductor sector on U.S. stock markets overnight, which boosted investor sentiment. On the 8th (local time), the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.23% on U.S. stock markets. NVIDIA (3.65%) rose on reports that China would allow purchases of its H200 chips, while Broadcom (4.83%) surged on news of a $30 billion chip contract with Apple. Micron (1.11%), SanDisk (6.77%), Lam Research (2.15%), and ASML (1.22%) also rebounded across the board. Despite the recent sharp decline, the sentiment among securities analysts remains positive regarding semiconductor earnings. Kim Dong-won, an analyst at KB Securities, noted on the same day, “The memory supply shortage in 2027 is likely to be more severe than in 2026,” adding, “Memory price growth in the second half of this year is projected to exceed market expectations, and HBM prices in 2027 are expected to rise by more than 100% year-over-year, considering the profitability gap with general-purpose DRAM.”
