The episode of the ENA and SBS Plus reality dating show “I’m Single,” which aired on the 8th, depicted what happened after the “Random Date.”
On that day, Young-sook launched an affectionate offensive against Young-sik right from the start of the “Random Date.” Saying, “I was worried our ‘Cutey’ (her nickname during the ‘Random Date’ segment) might be tired,” she handed him vitamins and a heating pad. Young-soo and Young-ja went on a date that made them look like siblings. After returning from the “Random Date,” Gwang-su went to the women’s dorm and asked, “Has Ok-soon come back yet?” Upon hearing that Ok-soon hadn’t returned yet, Gwang-su vented his frustration, saying, “Why are they keeping her there for so long?” A short while later, when Ok-soon returned, Gwang-su quickly asked to talk with her. The biggest conflict erupted between Young-soo and Young-sook. Young-soo returned from his date with Young-ja under the influence of alcohol, and Young-sook felt he wasn’t taking her earlier request—that she wanted to talk “without alcohol involved”—into consideration. Facing Young-soo alone, Young-sook expressed her disappointment over this. However, Young-soo explained, “I thought we could talk (sober) not just today, but even tomorrow morning.” The gap between their positions remained unresolved, and upon witnessing this, the three MCs—Defconn, Lee Yi-kyung, and Song Hae-na—commented, “He’s such a real-life guy.”
In the common living room, Sang-cheol’s discussion of his birth chart created an unexpected atmosphere. Sang-cheol said, “I had my birth chart read before coming here,” and mentioned that the person he was destined to be with had a “protruding forehead.” He continued, “They said I have to marry this person. They say you can see everything in a birth chart, and that since our emotional compatibility is strong, our married life will be happy,” making the atmosphere awkward.
Young-ja and Young-cheol also engaged in a subtle standoff over the dishes. On the morning of Day 4, Young-soo visited the women’s dormitory and scheduled “one-on-one conversations” with Young-sook and Ok-soon, in that order. He declared a “conditional pursuit” to Young-sook, saying, “I’ll try to talk to Ok-soon later, but if I’m not her second choice, I’ll go straight for you.” A flustered Young-sook expressed her disappointment in an interview after their conversation, saying, “It felt like I was being told, ‘It’s either Ok-soon or you.’” Next, Young-soo sat down with Ok-soon and asked, “Am I on your list of people you’re interested in?” Ok-soon replied coolly, “You’re not very high on the list.” After their conversation, Ok-soon confided in an interview, “It sounded like he was saying he’d only try to win me over if I was on his list of favorites, and not if I wasn’t, so it didn’t feel sincere.”
Sang-cheol, who had been locked in a tense standoff with Kwang-soo, directly asked Kwang-soo for a conversation. He seemed innocent at first, but later on, I found him frustrating,” heightening curiosity about the story’s future developments.
“I’m Single” is a dating show where single men and women who desperately want to get married gather to struggle to find love. The “divorced singles” specials—Seasons 10, 16, 22, and 28—became major talking points. Attention is now focused on whether Season 32 will continue this trend.
