[E-Daily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] LG CNS (#LGCNES) has partnered with PhysicsX, a UK-based industrial artificial intelligence (AI) company, to develop a next-generation industrial AI world model for application in the energy, manufacturing, and robotics sectors. By combining PhysicsX’s AI simulation technology—which rapidly predicts physical phenomena—with LG CNS’s industrial system integration and digital twin capabilities, the companies aim to strengthen their competitiveness in the physical AI business.
According to industry sources on the 10th, the two companies have agreed to develop a “frontier world model” capable of solving complex engineering problems in industrial settings and to apply it to the global industrial engineering sector. (Photo courtesy of PhysicsX) A “World Model” is an AI model that learns the relationships between physical changes and variables occurring in the real world to predict the outcomes of specific designs or operations. It can be used to reduce the time and cost of physical simulations that are repeatedly performed during product design, manufacturing processes, and facility operations.
PhysicsX provides an AI-based engineering platform for the aerospace, semiconductor, automotive, energy, and industrial machinery sectors. The company explained that by utilizing AI models, it can predict physical phenomena—which previously took hours or days—in just a few seconds. Its goal is to apply physics-based AI across the entire product lifecycle, from the design stage through manufacturing to real-time digital twin operations.
Last month, PhysicsX secured a $300 million Series C investment led by Temasek, with participation from NVIDIA, Siemens, Applied Materials, and others. The company’s valuation at the time was approximately $2.4 billion (about 3.618 trillion won). The company plans to use the investment to develop “Large Physics Models”—large-scale pre-trained physics AI models—and to expand its global business.
Through this collaboration, LG Corp. is expected to expand its capabilities in the physical AI business, covering everything from AI model development to on-site industrial application and operation. LG Corp. is driving its Robot Transformation (RX) business by leveraging “PhysicalWorks Forge,” which collects robot training data and trains and validates the Robot Foundation Model (RFM), and “PhysicalWorks Baton,” which distributes tasks among heterogeneous robots and manages their integrated operations.
