[E-Daily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] Naver (NAVER(035420)) announced on the 10th that it has donated $300,000 (approximately 450 million won) to aid in the swift recovery of Venezuela, which was recently hit by an earthquake.

The funds will be distributed through Naver’s online donation platform, Happy Bean, with $100,000 each going to UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and the UN World Food Program (WFP). The donations are intended to support recovery efforts following the earthquake that struck Venezuela last June.
Naver has long been involved in providing support to help overcome natural disasters and emergencies both domestically and internationally. Last July, it donated 1 billion won to aid in the recovery of areas affected by torrential rains, and in March, it donated 1 billion won to support recovery efforts following wildfires in the Gyeongsang and Ulsan regions. In 2023, it donated $1 million to aid in the recovery from the major earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.
Users are also continuing to participate in the donation drive. According to Naver, as of the afternoon of the 9th, approximately 50,000 people had donated a total of 540 million won through Happy Bean to support recovery efforts following the earthquake in Venezuela.
To encourage user participation, Happy Bean plans to match each donation made by a user on the platform with 10 “beans”—worth 1,000 won—as an additional contribution.
When emergency or disaster situations arise, Naver promotes Happy Bean fundraising campaigns—such as by displaying them at the bottom of the search bar—to expand online donation participation.
A Naver spokesperson said, “We hope this will help, even in a small way, with the swift recovery of the affected areas,” adding, “We will continue to do our part to support disaster relief and recovery efforts.”
“Incredible.”
