[Edaily Reporter Hyera Lee ] KNS CO., LTD(432470)announced on the 10th that it has signed a contract worth approximately 3.5 billion won with Zhongrui Electronics, a global manufacturer of secondary battery components, to supply automated equipment for cylindrical battery CIDs (current interrupters).

A CID is a critical safety component that cuts off the current in the event of abnormal internal pressure in a cylindrical battery, thereby reducing the risk of fire and explosion. The company explained that it holds a 75% market share in the domestic CID automation equipment sector.
Zhongrui Electronics is a company that supplies core components to major domestic and international battery cell manufacturers, and KNS CO., LTD strengthened its partnership with Zhongrui Electronics by establishing the domestic joint venture “Zhongrui Korea” in 2024.
The company expects demand for related components and automation equipment to grow as the applications for cylindrical batteries expand beyond electric vehicles to include humanoid robots, aerospace, and physical AI.
A KNS CO., LTD official stated, “Once mass production of humanoid robots begins in earnest, we expect the investment cycle for cylindrical battery-related components and equipment to expand as well,” adding, “Based on our stable customer base, we will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the rechargeable battery sector and new growth industries.”
