On the 12th, tvN released a character video for Ma Kang-wook from its new Saturday-Sunday drama “Creepy Romance,” which premieres on the 18th. “Creepy Romance” is an occult romance depicting the encounter between the heiress of a chaebol family who can see ghosts and a passionate prosecutor who fears them.

Ma Kang-wook, played by Yang Se-jong, is a prosecutor who remains unshaken by bribery or external pressure. He brings criminals to justice regardless of their status or background, and his unyielding investigations and resolute attitude have drawn public attention.

The released video begins by introducing Ma Kang-wook’s impressive track record and his achievements as a prosecutor. He detests bribery above all else and remains unflinching in the face of pressure from those around him. However, even Ma Kang-wook—who seems to fear nothing in the world—has a fatal weakness: he is so afraid of ghosts that he cannot even watch a horror movie properly.

After hearing a rumor that a ghost appears in the bathroom on rainy days, Ma Kang-wook, trembling with fear, puts on a brave front by shouting, “Come out!” into thin air. This unexpected contrast—between his imposing demeanor as a prosecutor and his nervousness at the slightest sound—is sure to elicit laughter.

Ma Kang-wook’s daily life changes abruptly when he suddenly starts seeing ghosts. Terrified by the ghosts that appear at any time and place, he flees without even taking the time to put on his shoes properly. The sight of Ma Kang-wook—who is relentlessly tough on criminals but completely helpless in the face of ghosts—sets the tone for the show’s comedic atmosphere.

While fleeing from the ghosts, Ma Kang-wook frantically seeks out Cheon Yeo-ri (played by Park Eun-bin), whom he had investigated in the past. As he bursts into tears like a child and begs for help, Cheon Yeo-ri shouts, “You said you weren’t scared!” The reason why Ma Kang-wook asked Cheon Yeo-ri—who was once the subject of his investigation—for help, and how their relationship will develop, are key elements to watch in the story.

“Creepy Romance” is a collaboration between director Lee Min-soo, known for “Boyfriend” and “Record of Youth,” and writer Choi Jeong-mi. It premieres on the 18th at 9:10 p.m.
