Koo Chang-mo debuted in 1978 through the TBC Beach Song Festival and subsequently served as the frontman and main composer for Songgolmae, producing hits such as “I Will Love Everyone” and “The Moment I First Saw You.” As a solo artist, he was beloved for songs like “Hinarri,” “I Grow Up as Much as I Suffer,” and “Open the Door.” “Memory & Future” marks Koo Chang-mo’s first official new release since the release of his fifth album, “Sad Love,” in 1989. The album features the new tracks “You, Whom I Met Again” and “Lovers of Planet Earth.” “The One I Met Again” serves as a sequel to “The One I Met by Chance”—the title track from Songgolmae’s second album and a hit song written and composed by Koo Chang-mo himself—blending a funk rhythm with Koo Chang-mo’s signature explosive vocals. “Lovers of Planet Earth” is a classical-style song reminiscent of CCM, showcasing Koo Chang-mo’s versatility across a wide range of genres. This album consists of a total of 14 tracks, including 12 previously released songs. Pop music critic Im Jin-mo commented on the new album, saying, “The virtue that runs through both the new songs and his past hits is an astonishing sense of youthfulness,” adding, “Whether it’s the memories it evokes or the vision of the future he proposes, it all ultimately boils down to the vitality of youth. This will be a welcome gift to the public who have long yearned for Koo Chang-mo.” On the day of the album’s release, Koo Chang-mo will appear on the YouTube channel “Suwajin TV” at 8:00 p.m. to interact with his fans.
