HyundaiMotor Set to Commercialize Autonomous Robot 'Mobed'… Supply Expected by Late August; Price Estimated at 50 Million Won
Supplies from Mobed Alliance Member Companies Set to Begin Soon
Full-Scale Development of Surveillance, Patrol, and Logistics Services Underway
Supply Prices Likely to Vary Based on Top Module and Control Functions
Final price and customer delivery date to be determined
[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] #HyundaiMotor has entered the final stages of preparation for the commercialization of its autonomous mobile robot platform, “MobED.” The company plans to begin supplying the platform to member companies of the “MobED Alliance” as early as late August, and industry sources indicate that the base price per unit is being discussed at around 50 million won.
According to industry sources on the 13th, HyundaiMotor Robotics Lab is currently undergoing internal approval procedures for MobED sales. It is reported that once final approval is granted by HyundaiMotor President José Muñoz, the sales policy, pricing, official launch schedule, and customer delivery timeline will be finalized.

However, since final sales approval and mass production schedules have not yet been confirmed, the actual supply date may be subject to some changes.
Mobed is an autonomous mobile robot platform that HyundaiMotor first unveiled at CES 2022. Its four independently driven wheels automatically adjust their posture based on ground conditions, keeping the upper module level even on uneven surfaces or slopes. Additionally, it can be equipped with specialized equipment tailored to specific purposes—such as logistics, delivery, patrol, guidance, and filming—making it suitable for a wide range of services.
Ahead of commercialization, HyundaiMotor is finalizing the establishment of an ecosystem and certification procedures. The company launched the “Mobed Alliance” last March to develop upper modules and application solutions tailored to specific services in collaboration with partner companies, and last month, it obtained operational safety certification from the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Promotion, thereby completing safety verification for commercialization.
The Mobed Alliance is a collaborative framework in which HyundaiMotor and KIA CORPORATION Robotics Lab provide the mobility platform and core technologies, while partner companies develop upper modules, application software, and control solutions. Under this model, HyundaiMotor supplies the base platform, and participating companies add features tailored to customer needs for deployment in industrial and public settings.
Goseong Engineering, as the alliance’s key system integration (SI) partner, is conducting customized application development and technical validation for clients in the logistics, manufacturing, and security sectors. The company is currently pursuing Mobed-based projects linked to the automation needs of its existing clients.
Roas, a subsidiary of CLOBOT Co., Ltd., has completed the production of prototype top modules for surveillance and patrol, as well as integration testing with Mobed. It is currently holding joint meetings with HyundaiMotor to propose customized payloads to potential clients, including Seoul City Hall and S-1.
Gaon Robotics plans to apply delivery, patrol, and indoor upper modules, along with its proprietary integrated operating platform “ROMNI,” to Mobed. In particular, following the selection of the Suwon City–HyundaiMotor consortium for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s “Hub-Type Smart City Development Project,” the company plans to supply Mobed-based delivery, patrol, and parking robots to the areas around Suwon Station, Hwaseo, and Haenggung.
Price is considered a key factor in the widespread adoption of Mobed. It is reported that the base platform price is being discussed at approximately 50 million won per unit, while the Pro model is expected to cost around 80 million won. The actual supply price is likely to vary depending on mass production volume, installed modules, autonomous driving and control functions, and the scope of system integration (SI).
An official from the Mobed Alliance stated, “While business discussions with clients are actively underway, contracts have not yet been signed as the final sales price and supply schedule have not been finalized,” adding, “Once supply begins, pilot testing and commercialization will also get into full swing.”
