[Edaily Reporter Kang Min-koo ] CONTEC Co.,Ltd(451760), a company specializing in space systems and solutions, is supporting the mission of the "Next-Generation Medium-Sized Satellite No. 4," a satellite designed specifically for agricultural and forestry observation.
(Source: CONTEC Co.,Ltd)The Next-Generation Medium-Sized Satellite No. 4 is a national satellite for agricultural and forestry observation, equipped with a multispectral sensor optimized for agricultural and forestry monitoring. Through its optical payload—capable of clearly distinguishing objects as small as 5 meters across a vast swath of 120 km—it performs missions such as crop yield assessment, farmland analysis, and forest resource monitoring on a three-day cycle.
Raw image data captured by the satellite in space is difficult to use directly due to environmental factors such as clouds and atmospheric distortion. CONTEC Co.,Ltd is responsible for the core processes of the satellite image quality system, including converting raw data into practical standard image products and supporting satellite image verification and calibration during the initial operation period.
The satellite’s standard image products will provide a robust data foundation that can be immediately utilized in the agriculture and forestry sectors via national satellites, in conjunction with future artificial intelligence (AI)-based analysis technologies and web-based platforms.
CONTEC Co.,Ltd. stated, “It is meaningful to be entrusted with the data preprocessing work that can maximize the value of agricultural and forestry observation satellites,” adding, “We will do our utmost to ensure that satellite data continuously monitors farmland and crops nationwide and is utilized efficiently, leveraging the top-tier image preprocessing technology we have accumulated over the years.”
