With this integration, stores in Seoul using Tosplace terminals can now accept contactless payment services from over 50 international payment providers, including △UnionPay, △WeChat Pay, and △QRIS (Indonesia’s integrated QR payment system).
A key feature is the ability to provide a variety of international mobile payment services all at once by integrating coocon Corporation’s global payment infrastructure with Seoul Pay and global payment providers—without the need for separate system development or additional terminal installations.
coocon Corporation is the operator selected by the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the Seoul Pay global payment and settlement operations. Foreign tourists visiting Korea can make instant payments by scanning the Seoul Pay QR code with their home country’s mobile payment app at stores equipped with Tosplace terminals. Small business owners can also accept payments from foreign customers using only their existing terminals.
Following its initial launch of global payment services last year by integrating UnionPay and WeChat Pay with Seoul Pay, coocon Corporation has expanded its support this year to include Alipay+, Indonesia’s QRIS, and Singapore’s Liquid Group. As of the first half of this year, the company has established a global payment network through partnerships with over 50 overseas payment providers, and this integration now enables it to offer various international mobile payment services even through offline payment terminals.
Going forward, the company plans to expand the offline payment touchpoints for its global payment services by strengthening cooperation with major domestic payment terminal and POS providers, including Tosplace. It also intends to enhance the competitiveness of its global payment network by expanding partnerships with payment providers in major Asian countries—such as Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and India—where QR payments are widespread.
Kim Jong-hyun, CEO of the coocon Corporation, stated, “Global payments are becoming a core infrastructure that creates new growth opportunities for small business owners, going beyond simply providing convenience for foreign tourists.” He added, “Starting with this integration with Tosplace, we will expand our global payment services to various offline payment environments to build a payment ecosystem that is convenient for both foreign visitors and merchants.”
