LG Uplus announced on the 16th that it has published the “Information Security White Paper 2025,” which details its information security activities and achievements in protecting customers. LG Uplus has been disclosing its related activities and achievements annually through the Information Security White Paper since 2023.

This white paper details initiatives to strengthen AI-based security capabilities to counter increasingly sophisticated cyber threats driven by the proliferation of generative AI, as well as efforts to enhance the personal information protection framework, expand security investments, and strengthen information security governance.

A key achievement is the operation of an AI-based integrated security monitoring system. LG Uplus responded to more than 200,000 security events through its SOAR-based integrated security monitoring system. SOAR stands for Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response, a security operations automation system.

The average response time for security events was reduced by more than 90% compared to the previous year. LG Uplus explained that it enhanced its threat response capabilities through AI-based anomaly detection, cyber threat intelligence, and dark web monitoring.

The company also strengthened its customer protection efforts. Through its “My Security Guardian” service, LG Uplus provides guidance on security services tailored to everyday life. It has also expanded its efforts to prevent damage from spam and voice phishing by utilizing “Anti-DeepVoice,” an on-device AI technology, and “Ixi Spam Filter,” an AI-based spam blocking solution.

The company has also advanced its personal information protection framework. LG Uplus has strengthened the integrated management system of its Privacy Center, enabling customers to directly check the status of their personal information processing and exercise their rights. It has expanded the scope of personal information compliance audits to cover all company-wide services and strengthened systems for verifying the accuracy of personal information and ensuring its timely destruction.

Thanks to these efforts, LG Uplus earned an “A” grade—the highest possible rating—in its personal information handling policy evaluation.

The company also increased its investment in security and expanded its team of specialized personnel. LG Uplus’s investment in information security totaled approximately 96.6 billion won, a 17% increase from the previous year. Over the past five years, this investment has grown 3.3-fold.

In 2025, the number of dedicated information security personnel reached 351, a 20% increase from the previous year. The company also strengthened its cyber attack surface management system, expanding the scope of inspections to 150,000 items, and completed remediation of identified vulnerabilities within 30 days.

Details on the strengthening of information security governance were also included in the white paper. LG Uplus has operated a system for reporting information security matters to the board of directors even before the amendment to the Information and Communications Network Act. Through its Information Security Advisory Committee—composed of experts from the legal, academic, and industrial sectors—the company is also securing the expertise needed to respond to new security threats in the AI era.

The white paper also highlights achievements in external collaboration. LG Uplus is collaborating with the National Police Agency to prevent AI-based crimes affecting public welfare and is working to cultivate information security talent through an industry-academia partnership with Soongsil University.

Furthermore, it is the only domestic telecommunications company participating in the pilot project for the “System for Continuous Reporting, Response, and Disclosure of Security Vulnerabilities,” led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Information & Communication Agency (KISA). Through this initiative, the company plans to cooperate in white-hat hacker vulnerability discovery activities targeting actual operational environments and contribute to spreading a culture of vulnerability management.

LG Uplus continues its efforts to foster a secure digital ecosystem, including its recent participation in “Project Canopy,” a domestic public-interest AI security initiative.

Hong Kwan-hee, Head of the Information Security Center (CISO·CPO) at LG Uplus, stated, “As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated alongside advancements in AI technology, information security is the most critical foundation for maintaining customer trust,” adding, “We will minimize security blind spots and create an environment where customers can use our services with peace of mind.”

The Information Security White Paper is available on the LG Uplus Privacy Center website.
