The Korea Trot Producers Association, formed by the joint efforts of about 50 representatives and planners from trot production companies, has officially launched. The association plans to lay the groundwork for the sustainable growth of the trot industry, with the globalization of K-Trot and the protection of producers’ rights and interests as its two main pillars.
The Korea Trot Producers Association held its inaugural ceremony on the 16th at the Glad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, and announced the association’s founding principles, vision, and key business plans. Record producer Shi Seong-woong, CEO of the agency representing singer Kim Yong-im, was appointed as the first chairman. In addition, the following individuals were appointed to lead the association’s operations: △ Senior Vice Chairman Woo Sang-bae, △ Vice Chairman Lee Byung-doo, △ Standing Director Shin Min-soo, △ Directors Na Seong-kyun, Seo Jae-seung, and Lee Seong-soo, and △ Auditor Choi Yong-soo.

Chairman Shi Seong-woong stated, “Just as K-pop has taken center stage in the global music market, it is now time for K-Trot to carry on that legacy,” adding, “Since the producers who have led South Korea’s trot industry have come together with one heart and one mind, the association will serve as a solid focal point for the industry’s development and globalization.”
The association has identified securing K-Trot’s global competitiveness as its top priority. It plans to foster Trot as a global cultural content by expanding into overseas markets and promoting international exchanges, while also focusing on improving the production environment, establishing systems to protect producers’ rights and interests, and building a mutually beneficial network among producers. Furthermore, the association aims to enhance industry expertise by promoting education, seminars, and information exchange, and to create a sustainable Trot industry ecosystem through live performances and content production.

In particular, plans to launch the “2027 K-Trot Super Concert” as the association’s first major project were unveiled at the launch ceremony. The association has begun preparations with the goal of holding the inaugural event at a major domestic venue in the second half of 2027; the host city will be determined at a later date. The vision is to subsequently host a flagship trot festival annually under the association’s auspices, growing it into a signature brand event representing K-Trot.
Executive Director Shin Min-soo stated, “The Korea Trot Producers Association is the official platform for producers representing South Korea’s trot industry,” adding, “Our goal is to go beyond individual success to drive the growth of the entire industry and expand K-Trot globally.” He continued, “The 2027 K-Trot Super Concert will be a flagship cultural project for South Korea, created jointly by producers, singers, broadcasters, companies, and the public,” and emphasized, “Just as K-pop has moved the world, K-Trot will also write a new chapter in history on the global stage.”
