[Economy with the EU] AI That "Clocks In" via Corporate Messaging Apps… French Firm Mio Secures 3.2 Billion Investment

[Edaily Marketin Reporter YunJi Kim ] Artificial intelligence (AI) that “clocks in” just like a human has made its debut in corporate messaging apps across Europe. It analyzes internal conversations and work documents to prepare for meetings and draft reports, and even handles customer follow-ups and system updates. Moving beyond the use of standalone AI apps, the European venture capital industry is showing interest in AI that has entered the actual workspaces of employees.

According to the European investment banking (IB) industry on the 18th, Paris-based AI startup Mio recently secured a pre-seed investment of 1.9 million euros (approximately 3.2 billion won) from investors including Fabric Ventures and Topology Ventures.

Founded last year, Mio develops an AI-powered work assistance service that operates within business messaging platforms. When an employee calls upon Mio in a chat window to assign a task, it gathers information scattered across CRM systems, email, Slack, Notion, and other platforms to organize meeting materials, project statuses, and pending tasks. It can also draft regular work briefings and investor update documents, as well as generate pull requests for software bug fixes or code reviews. Mio integrates with over 3,000 external services, including not only Slack but also Notion, Google Workspace, GitHub, and HubSpot.

Venture capitalists decided to invest in Mio because it integrates directly into Slack—a platform employees already use—rather than trying to attract users as a standalone AI app. Unlike general-purpose chatbots such as ChatGPT or Claude, which require users to input work context and reference materials each time, Mio understands the organization’s situation based on internal messages, documents, and calendars for which it has been granted access. It goes beyond simply providing answers or drafts to actually performing tasks within connected services; it handles sensitive tasks only after obtaining user approval and maintains a record of all work performed.

The service is also widely adopted. According to the company, over 100 companies—ranging from early-stage startups to Series B-funded firms—currently use the service daily. Early adopters have saved an average of 8.2 hours per employee per week using Mio. It is primarily used for morning work briefings, meeting summaries, CRM updates, customer follow-ups, and report writing.

Venture capitalists are also taking note of Mio’s potential to establish itself as the primary entry point for AI agents in enterprise messaging. They appear to highly value the fact that the platform can grasp organizational context within Slack—where company conversations and decision-making are accumulated—and expand its functionality to other business software.

Meanwhile, Mio plans to allocate the funds from this investment toward expanding its engineering team, enhancing its product, and growing its customer base in the European and U.S. markets. A company representative stated, “We don’t believe the future of workplace AI lies in getting people to open yet another application,” adding, “A good colleague should understand what’s happening in the company and be able to respond to needs even before a request is made.”
