[London (UK) = E-Daily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] SamsungElectronics(005930)has segmented its Galaxy foldable phone lineup into three product categories focused on content consumption, work productivity, and portability. The company added the “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra,” the first-ever top-tier model in its foldable series, and simultaneously unveiled the Fold8, featuring a shorter, wider screen, and the Flip8, which boasts enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

SamsungElectronics held “Galaxy Unpacked 2026” on the 22nd at Old Billingsgate in London, UK, and unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra, and Flip8.

Noh Tae-moon, President and CEO of SamsungElectronics’ DX Division, said, “The new Galaxy Z series is SamsungElectronics’ most refined foldable product to date,” adding, “We will usher in the era of next-generation intelligence by providing personalized services to users.”

Segmented into the Fold 8 for content and the Ultra for work

The Fold 8 features significantly different screen aspect ratios when folded and unfolded. The cover screen, with a 5.5-inch display and a 10:16 aspect ratio, is optimized for messages, social media, and short-form videos. When unfolded, it transforms into a 7.6-inch screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, suitable for videos, e-books, games, and web browsing.

Weighing 201g, it is the lightest Fold model to date. It measures 4.5mm thick when unfolded and 9.7mm thick when folded. It features a 4,800mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 5th Gen mobile platform for Galaxy.

The rear features a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. It also supports “Dual Recording,” which captures both the photographer and the subject simultaneously using the front and rear cameras, and “My Fan Cam,” which automatically tracks a specific person and edits the video accordingly.

The Fold 8 Ultra is the top-of-the-line model and the first Samsung foldable phone to bear the “Ultra” name. With its 8-inch main screen, it focuses on multitasking—running multiple apps simultaneously—and content creation.

When unfolded, it measures 4.1 mm thick—the thinnest of any Fold model to date—and weighs 215 g. The 5,000 mAh battery is the first in the Galaxy Z series to support up to 45W fast charging and a dual-path charging system that distributes power to the battery.

The camera system consists of a 200-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens. It also supports 8K video recording and features the APV codec to minimize quality loss during editing, as well as the “Cine LUT” function, which applies cinematic color tones to videos.

The Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra are the first devices to feature “Flex Titanium” technology, which combines a titanium alloy film with a reinforced titanium plate. This structure is designed to enhance screen durability and reduce creasing at the fold. Both models have a maximum screen brightness of 3,000 nits—approximately 15% higher than their predecessors—and support anti-glare technology and Vision Booster.

Flip 8: Run AI and Apps on the Closed Screen

When unfolded, the Flip 8 measures 6.1 mm thick and weighs 180 g, making it the thinnest and lightest Galaxy Z Flip model to date. The main display is 6.9 inches, while the cover display, FlexWindow, is 4.1 inches. It is powered by the Exynos 2600 and features a 4,300 mAh battery.

The Flex Window features Quick Panel and App Tray, allowing users to access apps and key functions without opening the smartphone. “Now Brief,” which organizes and displays schedules, news, and health information, as well as AI features that link multiple apps for multitasking, can also be used on the cover screen.

The camera system consists of a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. It supports the “Camcorder Grip,” which allows you to fold the smartphone in half and hold it like a camcorder; the “Zoom Rocker,” which lets you adjust the zoom speed with a touch; and the “Super Steady” feature, which keeps the shooting frame level. “Mirror View,” which lets you use the cover screen like a hand mirror, has also been added.

AI That Runs 40 Apps, Including Delivery and Reservations

The new Galaxy Z series offers Agent AI features based on Galaxy AI and Google’s “Gemini Intelligence” that understand the context of the user’s screen and content.

Gemini Intelligence automatically launches over 40 apps, including those for delivery, reservations, and shopping. It streamlines multi-step tasks—such as searching for and reserving nearby restaurants, adding events to your calendar, or checking ticket information—by connecting them all in one go.

“Now Nudge” analyzes chat and search content to suggest next actions, such as adding events to your calendar or saving locations. “Gemini Notebook” is a feature that gathers notes, images, recordings, and documents into a single workspace to create meeting summaries, reports, infographics, and more.

Security features have also been enhanced. One UI 9 includes the “AI Assistant Activity Dashboard,” which displays the history of AI feature usage. It also offers the Personal Data Engine, which processes personalized data on the device itself; KEEP, which encrypts app-specific data separately; and Knox Vault, which stores critical information in a separate secure area.

The process of switching from an iPhone to a Galaxy has also been simplified. Users can transfer photos, videos, passwords, passkeys, call logs, and eSIM information via a QR code without installing a separate app. Quick Share is compatible with Apple AirDrop.

Ultra 1TB: 3.45 million won… Launching August 7

The domestic manufacturer’s suggested retail prices, based on 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, are 2.5773 million won for the Fold 8 Ultra, 2.2781 million won for the Fold 8, and 1.683 million won for the Flip 8.

For the 512GB models, the Fold 8 Ultra is priced at 2,830,300 won, the Fold 8 at 2,531,100 won, and the Flip 8 at 1,936,000 won. The 16GB RAM/1TB models are priced at 3,451,800 won for the Fold 8 Ultra and 3,152,600 won for the Fold 8, with both models exceeding 3 million won.

Pre-orders in South Korea will run from the 28th of this month through the 3rd of next month. Customers who pre-order the 256GB model will receive the “Double Storage” benefit, which upgrades their storage capacity to 512GB.

Buyers of the Fold 8 Ultra and Fold 8 512GB models can receive the 1TB model by paying an additional 310,700 won—roughly half the price difference between the 512GB and 1TB models. The 1TB model is available exclusively through this upgrade benefit, without a separate pre-sale.

The official launch is set for August 7. Sales will begin sequentially in major markets, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and Brazil.
