[Edaily Reporter Kim Se-yeon ] SamhwaPaintIndustrial(000390)(formerly Samhwa Paint Industry), a comprehensive chemical materials company, has stepped up to support the creative activities of young artists and improve the local environment. By sponsoring eco-friendly paint and construction materials for a rural mural project organized by the Seoul University of the Arts student volunteer group, the company has revitalized dilapidated walls in Seonsan-eup, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.

SP SAMHWA announced on the 22nd that it had sponsored the entire supply of its premium eco-friendly paint products and auxiliary materials, as well as provided technical consultation, for the “Ma-jung” Rural Talent-Sharing Mural Painting Project—a volunteer initiative by the Seoul Institute of the Arts Student Volunteer Corps—which took place over five days from the 7th to the 11th in the Seonsan-eup area of Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.
Participants in this project included the Seoul University of the Arts Student Council, design majors, and students from the art club “Yuhwarang.” The students created a mural depicting the history and nature of Seonsan-eup on a wall measuring 50 meters in length and covering an area of 90.6 square meters.
SP SAMHWA supplied the materials needed for the project, including eco-friendly coatings and finishes for exterior walls, and provided technical advice. The products provided included “iA Water-Based Exterior Pro,” a paint specifically designed for exterior walls, and “Water-Based Clear PLUS Exterior Matte.” This support enabled young artists to focus on their creative work on-site. The initiative aims to contribute to the creation of a sustainable cultural and artistic ecosystem where the company and future generations can grow together by supporting the creative activities of university student artists with fresh and trendy sensibilities.
This mural, which incorporated the region’s unique historical background and beautiful natural environment into a modern design theme, received an enthusiastic response from residents. SP SAMHWA’s eco-friendly paints, combined with the young artists’ talent, created a space for communication where people can enjoy culture and the arts.
An SP SAMHWA official stated, “As we changed our corporate mission this year to mark our 80th anniversary, we undertook this sponsorship to give back to society the identity of our eco-friendly paint technology that we have accumulated over the years and to fulfill our corporate social responsibility.” The official added, “Just as we have improved the urban landscape of Seonsan-eup, Gumi, in collaboration with young artists, we will continue to actively practice Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management that coexists with the local community.”
