[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] Director Na Hong-jin’s new film “Hope” is dominating the box office, holding onto the No. 1 spot for its second week in theaters.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 22nd, “Hope” drew 128,902 viewers on the 21st. Its cumulative audience count stands at 2,401,626.
“Hope” is a science fiction feature film directed by Na Hong-jin—known for “The Chaser” and “The Yellow Sea”—marking his return to the genre 10 years after “The Wailing.” The film stars Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, alongside Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.
In second place was Universal Pictures’ “Minions & Monsters,” which drew 18,765 viewers. Its cumulative attendance stands at 410,348. Disney’s “Moana” added 12,634 viewers that day, bringing its cumulative total to 795,819.
“The Eye,” starring Shin Min-a, and Disney·Pixar’s “Toy Story 5” took 4th and 5th place, respectively, continuing their long-running box office success.
Marvel’s flagship hero, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” took the top spot in advance ticket sales. “Spider-Man” attracted 311,683 advance ticket buyers.
“Hope,” which is currently on a box office roll, recorded 163,424 advance ticket sales. Director Christopher Nolan’s new film, “The Odyssey,” had 79,462 advance ticket sales.
