[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] Actors Lee Jun-ho and Hong Hwa-yeon will star together in tvN’s new drama *Foreign Embassies in Korea*.
tvN’s new drama “Foreign Embassies in Korea” is a mysterious and beautiful romantic comedy about a human rookie diplomat who is accidentally assigned to the “Foreign Embassies in Korea”—an agency that manages non-human residents in South Korea—and an ambassador who, unbeknownst to others, is actually a dragon. “Foreign Embassies in Korea” is the world’s most secretive diplomatic mission, tasked with ensuring that non-human beings—such as haechi, mermaids, and gumiho—who have come from “foreign lands” (異國, where the character for “different” [異] is used) can coexist with humans without causing any disruption. Conceived by writer Shin Ha-eun—known for “Gatmaeul Cha Cha Cha” and “My Mom’s Friend’s Son”—this original work is generating anticipation for its unique world-building, which blends fantasy with the modern, public framework of an “embassy.” Director Bae Hyun-jin, who co-directed “Big Mouth” and “Hwanhon: Light and Shadow” and directed “Hierarchy,” has joined the project. Amid this, Lee Jun-ho has joined the cast in the lead role, further heightening anticipation. In the series, Lee Jun-ho plays “Cha Yeon,” the head of the most mysterious embassy in the world and a water spirit from Yongin. As a water deity who controls water, Cha Yeon’s very nature mirrors that of water—gentle and serene as if embracing all things, yet capable of raging with such intensity that it could level a mountain. When a human—who will not even live to be a hundred years old—crashes-lands before this beautiful and solitary being, who has been unable to leave this land for over a thousand years, a crack appears in his monotonous daily life for the first time. Hong Hwa-yeon stars as Go Mi-woo, a human rookie diplomat who will work alongside Lee Jun-ho, the head of the Foreign Embassy in Korea. Go Mi-woo is a former Asian Games archery gold medalist and a “human rookie diplomat” assigned to the “Foreign Embassy in Korea,” a place where humans are not allowed to enter. With both Lee Jun-ho and Hong Hwa-yeon having garnered attention through their respective projects, all eyes are on how they will work together in *The Embassy of a Foreign Country in Korea* and what kind of performances they will deliver. “Embassies of Foreign Countries in Korea” is scheduled to air on tvN.
