[Edaily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] CU, a convenience store chain operated by BGF Retail(282330), announced on the 27th that sales of its proprietary, differentiated instant noodle brand “Cheat Key” surpassed 200,000 units as of the 23rd of this month.

This means that one pack of Cheat Key instant noodles was sold every 10 seconds, marking the fastest sales record among all the differentiated instant noodle series CU has launched to date.

In particular, the success was largely driven by the “Cheat Key Day” promotions held every Sunday this month, during which “Cheat Key Rich Shrimp Soup Noodles” were sold for 480 won and “Cheat Key Real Cream Bulgogi Chicken Flavor” for 500 won. On the 12th, when Cheat Key Day was held, sales of Cheat Key Rich Shrimp Soup Noodles even surpassed those of Shin Ramyun’s bongji (tube) noodles.

Cheat Key is CU’s differentiated ramen series, which debuted on the 3rd of last month by adding that decisive extra touch to familiar, popular flavors to elevate the taste to a level closer to a full-fledged dish. “Cheat Key Real Cream Buldak Flavor” is a stir-fried noodle dish made with an entire carton of Grade 1A milk, while “Cheat Key Rich Shrimp Soup Noodles” features dried red shrimp pieces and added shrimp powder to deliver a refreshing yet hearty broth with a rich shrimp flavor.

CU is offering a 30% discount on both products through next month for purchases made with Naver Pay Points, Naver Pay Money, or a BC Card. On “Cheat Key Day” every Sunday, the products will be sold at a discount of up to 50%. When purchasing Cheat Key Rich Shrimp Soup Noodles, CJ Corp. Perilla Oil Rice is available for 900 won, and when purchasing Cheat Key Real Cream Buldak Flavor, Jenico Cheese Party Mozzarella is available for 300 won.

CU plans to continue expanding its differentiated ramen lineup with Cheat Key at the forefront. Han Jeong-ju, a Merchandising Director (MD) on the Processed Foods Team at BGF Retail, said, “By combining refined flavors with the fun of new cooking methods, we’re seeing viral buzz among the 1030 demographic—including spontaneous purchase reviews and the sharing of ‘Cheat Key’ combinations—which has led to results exceeding our expectations.” She added, “We will continue to introduce ramen featuring new concepts and product appeal to provide customers with unique culinary experiences.”
