"We Will Secure Future Growth Engines, Including Materials for Rechargeable Batteries"
[Edaily Reporter kim mi-kyung ] Dongwon Systems Corporation(014820)has successfully improved its second-quarter earnings this year, driven by expanded exports of eco-friendly packaging materials and the growth of its overseas subsidiaries.
Dongwon Systems Corporation announced on the 31st that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year was provisionally estimated at 31.4 billion won, a 21.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the same period rose 9.8% to 402.2 billion won.
According to Dongwon Systems Corporation, cumulative revenue for the first half of this year reached 740 billion won, a 5.2% increase compared to the same period last year, while operating profit rose 15.5% to 44.4 billion won.
Dongwon Systems Corporation explained that while its domestic business faced overall challenges due to a difficult business environment—including prolonged high exchange rates, high oil prices, and a sluggish domestic market—its performance was driven by expanded exports of high-value-added products and the growth of its overseas subsidiaries.
In the materials division, the company strengthened its push into the North American, Asian, and African markets by promoting “Uni-Material,” an eco-friendly, recyclable polyethylene (PE)-based packaging material. As a result, related export revenue increased by approximately 20% compared to the same period last year. The company’s Vietnamese affiliate, TTP (Tan Tien Packaging), also expanded into North American markets—including the U.S. and Canada—in addition to the local Vietnamese market, resulting in revenue growth of approximately 20% year-over-year.
A Dongwon Systems Corporation official stated, “Even amid ongoing global instability in the supply of raw materials, we have improved profitability alongside revenue growth by expanding exports of high-value-added products,” adding, “In the second half of the year, we will continue to expand exports of K-packaging materials while making multifaceted efforts to secure future growth engines, such as materials for secondary batteries and advanced films.”
