The title track “Surfin’ Boy” is a bossa nova-style dance track that blends a refreshing sound with cool yet dreamy vocals. Member Joy wrote the lyrics herself, crafting a song centered on memories of a hot summer. This marks Red Velvet’s first new release in approximately two years and two months since the release of their mini-album “Cosmic” in June 2024. Through their agency, SM Entertainment, the members shared, “We’re incredibly excited to share Red Velvet’s music with you again after such a long time,” adding, “Since we’re reuniting after our respective solo activities, we’ve each grown significantly as artists. We worked on this album hoping to capture our unique maturity, so we hope you’ll look forward to it.” Regarding the title track, they explained, “During our previous summer promotions, we presented intense and energetic songs. This time, we’ve prepared a song that evokes the moment of gazing at a summer beach at sunset, rather than the scorching heat of midday.” Joy, who wrote the lyrics for “Surfin’ Boy” herself, said, “I wanted to convey the sentiment, ‘I want to meet again and create memories that are even more beautiful and wonderful than before.’ I hope my sincere feelings of cherishing and loving our fans come through.”
