[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] SBS’s new variety show “My AI Partner—Ki-ian’s Romance” has unveiled its official poster depicting the relationship between humans and AI.
Premiering on the 20th, SBS’s “Ki-ian’s Romance” is Korea’s first AI dating survival show that observes the emotional changes experienced by human cast members as they go on dates with AI partners. By combining AI with a dating reality show, it poses the question: “Is it possible to feel love even if your partner is an AI?” The unveiled poster is centered around three transparent screens reminiscent of smart devices and a charging cable. The dreamlike color palette, where shades of blue and pink intertwine, evokes the show’s unique worldview—where the boundaries between reality and the virtual world blur—and builds anticipation for the program. The phrase “Is love with AI possible?” is split across each screen, while scenes of a hand reaching out toward an AI and humans and AIs gazing at each other foreshadow the unfamiliar relationships and emotional shifts the cast members will experience. The screens connected by charging cables intuitively convey the show’s core premise: that humans and AIs form relationships through technology. Ki-an 84, Jang Do-yeon, and Lee Yu-bi will go on dates and spend their daily lives with their AI partners, facing unexpected emotional moments such as excitement, attraction, jealousy, confusion, and regret. Going beyond a simple AI experience, the show will vividly demonstrate how AI partners influence human choices, lifestyles, and emotions. In the studio, Jang Do-yeon, Gangnam, and Lee Joon observe the cast members’ AI dating journeys. Jang Do-yeon, who participated in AI dating herself, shares the emotions she felt at the time based on her own experience, while Gangnam and Lee Joon analyze the cast members’ relationships from different perspectives, showcasing unpredictable chemistry as hosts. The production team stated, “In this era where AI is rapidly catching up to all human capabilities, we wanted to ask whether ‘love’ is even possible,” adding, “We sought to explore the potential and limitations of AI in the realm of relationships through the emotional shifts—such as excitement, attraction, jealousy, and confusion—experienced by human participants as they go on dates with their AI partners.” Recently, SBS has been releasing dating shows with a variety of themes. These range from “Group Blind Dates,” where mothers and their children appear together to find romantic partners, to “My Remaining Love,” in which participants who have lived with a terminal illness seek a partner as they start a new chapter in their lives. With the addition of this AI dating show to the lineup, attention is focused on what kind of entertainment it will deliver. SBS’s “My AI Partner: Ki-ian’s Romance,” an AI dating experiment that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy, will premiere next Thursday, the 20th, at 9 p.m.
