[Edaily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] Naver’s (NAVER(035420)) action-oriented AI search service, “AI Tab,” has surpassed 10 million monthly active users (MAU) just over a month after its official launch. Naver plans to develop AI Tab not merely as a search-and-answer service, but as an action-oriented AI search platform that connects to key services such as shopping and local listings, leading users to make purchases and reservations.
Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver, stated during the Q2 2026 earnings call on the 7th, “AI Tab, which officially launched on June 25, has surpassed 10 million monthly active users as of early August and is rapidly establishing itself as a new search experience.”
User loyalty metrics have also improved. CEO Choi explained, “The weekly return rate, which indicates user loyalty, has more than doubled compared to the early testing phase and continues to show a steady upward trend.” She added, “The click-through rate (CTR) for shopping and local content has also exceeded 40%, confirming that user exploration is leading to actual purchases and reservations.”
The AI Tab is the flagship service of “Actionable AI,” which Naver has positioned as a core strategy for this year. While traditional search merely finds and displays information, the AI Tab is designed to understand search intent and the context of purchases and reservations, connecting users to Naver Shopping, Places, and local content.
CEO Choi emphasized, “Based on personalized recommendations utilizing actual purchase data and shopping reviews, the AI Tab is continuously shortening the steps involved from search to decision-making,” adding, “The AI Tab is establishing itself as an action-oriented AI that helps the entire population in their daily lives.”
The service scope will also be expanded. Naver plans to enhance its real estate listing search feature and add agents tailored for the Whale browser in the third quarter. A health agent will also be rolled out sequentially by the end of the year.
CEO Choi said, “Going forward, the AI Tab will continue to enhance its services by focusing not only on the quality of recommendations but also on the contribution to actual transaction conversions as key metrics, thereby strengthening a virtuous cycle that expands transactions within the platform.”
Meanwhile, Naver posted its highest-ever quarterly revenue in the second quarter, recording 3.3888 trillion won—a 16.2% increase from the same period last year. However, operating profit decreased by 0.2% year-over-year to 520.3 billion won due to investments in AI infrastructure.
