UNI CHEM.CO.,LTD announced on the 10th that Loomia has signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with multiple global robotics companies, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and Tier-1 suppliers, and is evaluating the potential applications of its e-Skin, haptic sensing, smart surfaces, heating, and thermal management technologies.

In accordance with confidentiality obligations, specific company names and project details were not disclosed. However, the company explained that discussions are proceeding beyond simple technology introductions to include application design and development that reflect the product structures and performance requirements of its clients.

In the robotics sector, discussions are centered on tactile sensing and e-Skin technologies that can be applied to the hands and outer skin of humanoid robots. Lumia’s flexible electronics technology implements electrical functions in thin, flexible materials, making it particularly suitable for application to a robot’s curved structures, moving joints, and large-area outer skin.

In the automotive sector, discussions are underway with global automakers and Tier-1 suppliers regarding the development of functional materials for next-generation mobility, including smart interiors, seat heating, surface sensing, and thermal management. The approach involves designing flexible electronic circuits tailored to customer product specifications and then integrating them into existing materials such as seats and interior trim.

UNI CHEM.CO.,LTD plans to combine Lumia’s flexible electronics design and technology development capabilities with its own industrial material manufacturing and processing technologies, as well as its mass production infrastructure. Through this, the company aims to enhance its development capabilities for ongoing global projects and translate technologies in the research and development phase into actual orders and mass production.

Previously, UNI CHEM.CO.,LTD announced that it had signed a term sheet outlining the key terms for the acquisition of 100% of Lumia’s shares. Once the acquisition is complete, the company plans to expand its business scope—building on its existing automotive interior materials business—to include humanoid robots, medical devices, wearables, and smart materials for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.

A UNI CHEM.CO.,LTD official stated, “Even before the acquisition was announced, Lumia had been engaged in NDA-based technology development discussions with global robotics and automotive companies,” adding, “Currently, some projects are progressing to concrete development stages, such as reviewing performance requirements set by clients and designing applications.”
