JWPHARMACEUTICAL Sees “Double Boost” from Rivarozet and IV Solutions… Q2 Operating Profit Up 33% Year-Over-Year

[Edaily Reporter Minji Son ] JWPHARMACEUTICAL(001060)reported improved revenue and profitability in the second quarter of this year, driven by balanced growth in its original prescription drugs and intravenous solutions. Products such as the high-dose iron injection “Ferineject” and the benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment “TruePass” recorded high growth rates, contributing to the company’s performance.

On the 11th, JWPHARMACEUTICAL announced that its preliminary second-quarter revenue on a standalone basis was 220.3 billion won, with operating profit at 33.7 billion won. This represents a 16.1% increase in revenue and a 32.7% increase in operating profit compared to the same period last year. The operating profit margin also rose by 1.9 percentage points to 15.3% during the same period, and net income reached 27.1 billion won, driven by the improved performance.

This growth was driven by the prescription drug (ETC) segment. Second-quarter ETC revenue reached 183.2 billion won, a 17.8% increase from 155.5 billion won in the same period last year.

Sales of “Livarojet,” a treatment for dyslipidemia, reached 30.5 billion won, a 20.0% increase compared to the same period last year. The “Livaro” family—which includes the single-ingredient Livaro as well as Livarojet, Livaro V, Livaro Hi, and Livaro Peno—recorded total sales of 53.2 billion won, a 12.3% increase.

Sales of the high-dose iron injection “Ferineject” reached 8.1 billion won, recording a high growth rate of 90.1% compared to the same period last year. “TruePass,” a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, generated sales of 4.0 billion won, a 50.6% increase from the same period last year.

Sales in the intravenous solution segment reached 72.4 billion won, a 13.7% increase from 63.7 billion won in the same period last year. Sales of the “Winnerf” line of high-value-added comprehensive nutritional IV solutions grew 5.3% to 21.1 billion won; sales of basic IV solutions rose 12.6% to 22.7 billion won; and sales of the enteral nutrition IV solution “Encover” grew 6.1% to 10.9 billion won.

The over-the-counter (OTC) segment also continued its growth trend. Second-quarter sales reached 14.7 billion won, a 19.9% increase from the same period last year; of this, the “Friends” eye care brand product line grew by 46.0% to 5.6 billion won.

A JWPHARMACEUTICAL official stated, “Our business as a whole is maintaining stable growth, centered on our original prescription drugs,” adding, “Based on our solid profit foundation, we will expand investment in research and development (R&D) and secure future growth engines.”
