Revenue for the same period rose 9.0% year-over-year to 2.572 trillion won. Net income increased by 18.8% to 104.6 billion won.
Cumulative revenue for the first half of this year reached 5.102 trillion won, a 9.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Cumulative operating profit for the same period rose 15.1% to 297.6 billion won, while net income increased 33.6% year-over-year to 217.5 billion won.
DongwonIndustries’ standalone first-half revenue rose 9.1% to 632.2 billion won, while operating profit increased 2.7% to 122.6 billion won. This was driven by expanded distribution of seafood products such as tuna and mackerel for sashimi.
The company explained, “While our B2C (business-to-consumer) food subsidiaries faced some difficulties due to the strong exchange rate, rising costs, and a slump in domestic demand, the expansion of sales channels in the B2B (business-to-business) sector—including food ingredient distribution, packaging materials, and logistics—along with increased exports drove the Group’s overall performance.”
Dongwon F&F, a B2C food subsidiary, saw a slight increase in revenue driven by growth in online channels; however, operating profit decreased by 7.2% due to mounting cost pressures and intensifying competition in offline channels.
Dongwon Home Food, a B2B (business-to-business) food ingredient distributor, posted balanced performance across all business segments, including seasoned foods, food ingredients, food service, and livestock product distribution. The expansion of new client bases in food ingredients and food service proved particularly effective, while the livestock business showed growth driven by the addition of new product lines.
Dongwon Systems Corporation(014820), the packaging materials affiliate, saw its performance supported by the expansion of exports focused on high-value-added products—such as Uni-material, an eco-friendly packaging material—and the growth of its overseas subsidiaries. On a consolidated basis, first-half revenue increased by 5.2% to 740 billion won, while operating profit grew by 15.5% to 44.4 billion won.
Dongwon ROX, the logistics subsidiary, also contributed to the Group’s performance with revenue growth of nearly 10% and an operating profit increase of more than 10%. The company has been working to attract new shippers and improve transportation efficiency.
A Dongwon Group official stated, “Amid ongoing cost pressures in the food sector, B2B affiliates—including packaging materials, food ingredient distribution, and logistics—showed robust growth, driving the Group’s overall performance,” adding, “Although the challenging business environment persists, we will continue to strengthen our fundamentals and build a stable business foundation.”
Meanwhile, Dongwon Group will pay an interim dividend to enhance shareholder value. At a board meeting held today, DongwonIndustries decided to increase the interim dividend per common share from 550 won last year to 600 won. Dongwon Systems Corporation also confirmed an interim dividend of 300 won per common share at its board meeting on the same day.
