[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] Seongmun Electronics ( SungmoonElectronics(014910)) announced on the 14th that it posted its best-ever first-half results this year, driven by strong performance in its Chonbang industries. Revenue exceeded 30 billion won for the first time on a half-year basis, while operating profit and net income also increased significantly.

On a consolidated basis, SungmoonElectronics’ operating profit for the first half of this year was 1.65 billion won, a 26.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure is close to last year’s full-year operating profit of 1.67 billion won. Revenue for the same period rose 11.6% to 31.29 billion won, representing approximately 58% of the previous year’s consolidated revenue. Net income increased significantly to 2.2 billion won.

The improvement in second-quarter performance was even more pronounced. On a consolidated basis, second-quarter revenue reached 17.4 billion won, a 19.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit was 980 million won, and net income was 1.47 billion won, representing increases of 78.7% and 1,581.2%, respectively.

SungmoonElectronics cited growing demand for high-value-added deposition films in Chonbang industries as the reason behind the improved performance. The company explained that revenue growth and improved profitability occurred simultaneously as sales at the headquarters, subsidiaries, and affiliates all increased.

Seongmun Qingdao, its wholly-owned subsidiary in China, also continued its growth momentum. Seongmun Qingdao recorded revenue of 21 billion won and operating profit of 1.3 billion won in the first half of the year. This represents approximately 60% of last year’s annual revenue and about 140% of last year’s operating profit. As profitability continues to improve alongside rising revenue, the company is establishing itself as a key revenue source for SungmoonElectronics.

Affiliate Bongseong Electronics also showed signs of a recovery in performance. Bongseong Electronics, in which SungmoonElectronics holds a 25% stake, recorded cumulative revenue of 16.9 billion won and operating profit of 1.1 billion won in the first half of the year.

SungmoonElectronics expects this growth momentum to continue in the second half of the year, driven by expanding demand in Chonbang industries. In particular, the company plans to enhance its ability to serve global customers by securing cost competitiveness and consistent quality through mass production, centered on Seongmun Cheongdo.

An official at SungmoonElectronics stated, “The first half of this year was a period of performance growth driven by the synergy between the headquarters’ stable profitability and the growth momentum at Sungmoon Qingdao,” adding, “We will soon be able to disclose specific details regarding our entry into new business areas that SungmoonElectronics has been preparing for.”
