[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] mPlus Corp(259630), a company specializing in lithium-ion battery assembly equipment, announced on the 18th that it recorded a consolidated net income of 15.4 billion won in the first half of this year, a 51.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
Revenue for the same period totaled 83 billion won, and operating profit stood at 14.2 billion won. The operating profit margin was 17.1%. The gross profit margin was 28.2%, an improvement of 3.7 percentage points from the same period last year (24.5%). It is also taking steps to secure investment funds to establish new growth engines. In the first half of the year, mPlus Corp issued 20 billion won in unsecured private placement bonds with DB Securities as the underwriter. The bonds mature on June 26, 2028, with an interest rate of 5.8% per annum. In the second half of the year, the company plans to secure a total of 40 billion won in medium- to long-term investment funds by pursuing additional financing of 20 billion won in primary collateralized bond obligations (P-CBO) through the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.
The funds raised will be used to expand related businesses, such as the development and operation of autonomous mobile robots (AIMR). The company plans to leverage the technological expertise accumulated from its existing rechargeable battery assembly equipment business to expand into new growth areas, including AIMR and all-solid-state battery equipment.
mPlus Corp anticipates that demand for prismatic energy storage systems (ESS) and defense-grade batteries will increase in the European and U.S. markets due to the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and geopolitical instability. The company plans to broaden its business scope by responding to shifting demand—moving from its existing focus on pouch-type electric vehicle (EV) batteries to prismatic ESS and defense-grade batteries.
A mPlus Corp official stated, “Amid rising barriers to fundraising for publicly traded companies, we will proactively secure liquidity while responding to the shift in demand from existing pouch-type EV batteries toward prismatic ESS and defense-grade batteries, and further solidify our new growth foundations in autonomous control systems, AIMR, and UV.”
