[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] iA, Inc.(038880)is pursuing a rights offering worth approximately 10 billion won to fully launch its modular artificial intelligence (AI) data center (MDC) business. The funds raised will be invested in the development, demonstration, and commercialization of “NeoCube,” a new growth business.
iA, Inc. announced on the 19th that it held a board of directors meeting on the 18th and decided to conduct a rights offering worth approximately 10 billion won. The company explained that it decided on the rights offering to build a solid business foundation by expanding its equity capital, rather than increasing the burden of interest and principal repayments on loans, ahead of the new business generating substantial revenue.
DCI, the largest shareholder, plans to subscribe for the full amount of new shares allocated to it in this rights offering.
In a Seohan to shareholders, iA, Inc. CEO Han Seong-yong stated, “We will use the funds raised this time to ensure the success of the new MDC business and will transparently share the progress of the project,” adding, “The largest shareholder will also subscribe for the full amount allocated, sharing the responsibility for the business’s success.”
The funds raised will be invested in NeoCube, a modular AI data center that iA, Inc. is promoting as a new growth engine following its automotive semiconductor and module business. NeoCube is a field-deployable AI data center that integrates servers, storage, AI accelerators such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and neural processing units (NPUs), power and cooling equipment, cloud operating software, and AI platforms into a single module.
It is prefabricated in the form of a standard 40-foot (ft) container or cabinet and installed at the customer’s site, with the goal of completing the entire process—from design to deployment—within three months.
The company plans to begin a pilot project in early September by deploying a 25-kW NeoCube for a proof of concept (POC). After verifying AI computing performance, power and cooling efficiency, and cloud operational stability, the company plans to scale up to a 100-kW system and begin commercial deployment.
The AI accelerator is designed to support not only NVIDIA GPUs but also domestically produced NPUs. iA, Inc. has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with FuriosaAI and Rebellion to jointly conduct field testing and commercialize small, modular AI data centers based on domestic NPUs.
The company will integrate AI appliances based on FuriosaAI’s “RNGD (Renegade)” inference chip for data centers into NeoCube to validate AI inference performance, power efficiency, and operational stability. It is also pursuing demonstration and commercialization efforts involving Rebellion’s NPU for AI inference. Through these initiatives, the company aims to establish a architecture that allows for the combination of CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs based on customers’ specific AI computing requirements.
Group affiliates are also participating in the project. iA, Inc. will handle cloud and AI software, DCI Solution will manage cooling, and Trino Technology will provide power semiconductor technology. Key target markets include vision and physical AI in manufacturing facilities, as well as the private AI market encompassing defense, security, public institutions, finance, and healthcare.
An iA, Inc. official stated, “This capital increase is not merely to secure operating funds, but is intended to secure growth capital for the NeoCube pilot program beginning in September and for future commercialization,” adding, “We plan to validate the technology and business viability through a 25kW proof of concept (POC) and then scale up to the 100kW class to meet actual customer demand.”
