Cats Eye (Photo: HYBE, Geffen Records)On the 23rd (local time), Billboard announced in a chart preview article posted on its official website that "WILD" had reached No. 1 on the latest Billboard 200 chart. The Billboard 200 is a chart that ranks albums based on “album units”—a metric that combines physical and digital album sales, streaming equivalents (SEA), and digital track equivalents (TEA). “WILD” recorded 170,000 album units during this tracking period, claiming the No. 1 spot by surpassing American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers’ new album “LOST WEEKEND” and K-pop boy group Stray Kids’ “THIS & THAT,” which had topped the chart the previous week. Album sales for “Wild” totaled 145,000 copies. SEA and TEA sales were 24,500 and 500 copies, respectively. Cat’s Eye is a multinational girl group that debuted in the U.S. in 2024 as a joint venture between HYBE and Geffen Records. The group consists of six members: Yoon Chae, the only Korean member, along with Sofia (Philippines), Daniela, Lara, and Megan (U.S.), and Manon (Switzerland). Five members participated in the production of this album, excluding Manon, who is currently on hiatus due to health reasons. Born out of HYBE’s “Multi-home, Multi-genre” strategy and “K-pop methodology,” CAT’s E has already proven its influence in the local music market by winning the New Artist of the Year award at the “2026 American Music Awards.” This marks their first time topping the Billboard 200. Their previous best ranking was No. 4, achieved with “Beautiful Chaos,” released in June of last year. Since the 2000s, only four girl group albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200: Blackpink’s “Born Pink” (2022), NewJeans’ *Get Up* (2023), and TWICE’s *With YOU-th* (2024)—just four albums in total. “Wild” is an album that portrays Cat’s Eye as she embraces her true self and moves toward instinct and freedom. It features “Hootie Frutti” as its title track, characterized by a percussion-driven pop sound, a heavy drum beat, witty lyrics, and a bold music video. “Wild” is an album containing a total of five tracks, including the title track “Hootie Frutti,” as well as “PINKY UP,” “Animal,” “Bel Air,” and “That Way.” The album features a diverse range of genres, including dance-pop, EDM (electronic dance music), and synth-based contemporary pop. The album features contributions from world-renowned hitmakers, including HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, global pop star Ed Sheeran, as well as Omer Padi, Blake Slatkin, Patrik Berger, and Johnny Goldstein. With this album, Cat’s Eye reached No. 2 on the latest UK Official Albums Chart. This is their best-ever chart position, far surpassing the No. 55 ranking achieved by their previous album, “Beautiful Chaos.”
