[Edaily Reporter KIM SAE-MI ] Celltrion(068270)Celltrion has launched “Omriclo” 300 mg, a treatment for chronic spontaneous urticaria and allergic asthma, in major European countries. The company plans to diversify dosage options and DEVICE configurations to expand choices for patients and healthcare providers, while accelerating its push into the European tender market in the second half of the year.
Celltrion announced on the 25th that, following the launch of Omriclo 75 mg and 150 mg in Europe late last year, it began rolling out the 300 mg product in key countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, and France starting in the middle of this year. The company is currently expanding supply focused on the countries where the product has already been launched and plans to broaden its sales territory to cover all of Europe in the future.
Omriclo is a biosimilar of omalizumab developed by Celltrion and is the “first-mover” product among omalizumab biosimilars to enter the European market. Celltrion’s strategy is to proactively expand Omriclo’s sales territory to increase market share, given that the 300 mg version of the originator drug is already being supplied in some European countries.
The 300 mg formulation allows patients—who previously had to receive two injections of the 150 mg product—to receive a single dose, thereby reducing the frequency of administration. It is available in two forms—prefilled syringes (PFS) and autoinjectors (AI)—allowing patients to choose based on their condition and administration environment. Based on this, Celltrion plans to target both new patient prescriptions and demand from patients switching from the original drug to Omliclo.
The company is also highlighting storage conditions as a key differentiator. Omriclo can be stored for up to two years at refrigerated temperatures (2–8°C) and for up to seven days at room temperature (up to 25°C). It also supports “re-refrigeration,” allowing the product to be stored at room temperature and then returned to refrigeration. Celltrion introduced these product characteristics to healthcare professionals at major local conferences, including the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) meeting held last June.
With the launch of the 300 mg formulation, Celltrion plans to focus on winning tenders and expanding supply in major European countries during the second half of the year. The company aims to drive sales growth by leveraging shelf-life and stability data, as well as various dosage and DEVICE configurations, in its local marketing efforts and by sequentially supplying the volumes awarded through tenders.
Ha Tae-hoon, Head of Celltrion’s European Headquarters, stated, “With the launch of Omriclo 300 mg, we are now able to provide patients and healthcare professionals with more convenient and diverse treatment options.” He added, “Based on the first-mover advantage and our broad product lineup, we will maintain our competitive edge in tenders across key countries and continue Omriclo’s growth momentum throughout Europe in the second half of the year.”
