As they mark their 10th anniversary since debut, the members of SF9 are already looking even further ahead. Defining the strength that has sustained them for a decade as “tenacity and determination,” they have poured their resolve to soar again—even without wings—into their full-length album. On stage, rather than showing off their power, they showcased their signature “restrained sex appeal” with a newfound sense of composure.
SF9 (In-sung, Hwi-young, Young-bin, Chan-hee, Da-won, Jae-yoon) held a press showcase on the 26th at the Cube Convention Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their second full-length album, “TENACITY,” and discussed their new album and 10th anniversary.
On that day, In-sung smiled and said, “Thanks to the many people who have cherished and supported us over the past 10 years, we’ve reached our 10th anniversary,” adding, “We plan to ride this momentum all the way to our 60th anniversary.” Jae-yoon chimed in, “Our 10th anniversary came in the blink of an eye. For our 60th anniversary, I’d like to prepare a dinner show to meet with as many people as possible.”
“Ternacity” is SF9’s first full-length album in six years, following their first studio album in 2020. The album title, which signifies “perseverance, determination, and indomitable will,” also incorporates the meaning of their 10th (“TEN”) anniversary since debut.
For the SF9 members, this full-length album was the fulfillment of a long-held “thirst.” Jae-yoon emphasized, “We kept pushing for a full-length album even when discussing it with the company,” adding, “This time, the members poured in 120% of their passion. It’s an album we really want to succeed with.” Youngbin also said, “Our fans have been waiting for our second full-length album, and we, too, had a lot we wanted to show them,” adding, “We’ve poured our hearts into it with the hope of making a big splash.”

The title track “Without Wings” most clearly embodies this determination. It tells the story of SF9 themselves—their resolve to take flight again no matter how many obstacles they face. Hwi-young also contributed to the lyrics.

The stage performance, unveiled for the first time that day, fully showcased SF9’s strengths. Their long arms and legs, combined with detailed choreography that utilized even their fingertips and fluid movements, seamlessly blended with the addictive rhythm. Their natural, understated sex appeal—which didn’t rely on excessive force or overt displays—was particularly impressive. It’s as if the experience they’ve accumulated over the past decade has manifested not as sheer “power” in their performance, but as a subtle “flavor.”
Jaeyoon described this as “like a deeply flavorful bone broth.” He said, “The members now know how to express themselves on stage. Even though we see each other every day, I feel like they’ve really become amazing.”
It’s not just the stage that has changed over the past 10 years. Youngbin cited “flexibility” as the biggest change. “We used to fight a lot when we first debuted,” he recalled with a laugh. “We came together because we each had our own musical visions, but now we prioritize finding a direction that works for the team over our individual stubbornness. That flexibility has also brightened the team’s atmosphere.”

SF9 also compared their unique appeal to “Metamon.” In-sung confidently stated, “Metamon is a master of transformation. We, too, aren’t limited to just one style—we can show a variety of sides.” Hwi-young also explained that while releasing numerous albums over the years, he “wondered if we were just replicating ourselves,” and for this album, he even put thought into words and expressions they don’t usually use.
Even after a decade in the industry, their passion remains undimmed. Chan-hee cited holding solo concerts with fans at larger venues as his goal, while In-sung went a step further, saying, “I want to hold an SF9 concert at Wembley Stadium in the UK, drawing an audience of 50,000 to 100,000 people.” In addition, In-sung expressed his hope, saying, “I definitely want to take first place on a music show.”
SF9 is set to hold their 10th-anniversary concert, “Chukmong” (十年逐夢), at the KBS Arena in Seoul on October 10–11, where they plan to share a passionate connection with their fans.
