[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] “We’re going to win over the public with ‘Love Options.’”
In October 2013, the girl group BESTie—then just three months into their debut—made this statement in an interview with E-Daily upon the release of their second single, “Love Options.” At the time, their stated goal was to remain in the top 50 on the music charts. The top spot, which they had failed to reach even during their promotional run, finally came 13 years later. “Love Options” recently topped the Shazam Korea chart, marking a belated heyday for the group.

On the 26th, the members of BESTie shared their heartfelt reactions with Edaily, saying, “It’s such an honor and a constant source of emotion to finally reach No. 1—something we never achieved during our active years,” and added, “We are so grateful—more than words can express.” They continued, “It feels both strange and wonderful to see so many people sharing videos of BESTie’s song after 13 years. We hope even more people will listen to and enjoy ‘Love Options.’”
The platform that brought “Conditions of Love” back to the spotlight in 2026 isn’t a music show—it’s short-form video. Posts featuring the song on TikTok have surpassed 100,000, and it ranked 14th on Instagram Reels’ Trending Audio list. Not only fans who remember their past activities but also a generation encountering BESTIE for the first time are using the song in their videos, allowing a 2013 track to be consumed anew as 2026 content.
The response has even crossed national borders. After topping the Shazam Korea chart, the song reached No. 2 in Vietnam and entered charts across Asia, including Japan, China, Thailand, and Singapore. The original music video and past music show performances are also garnering renewed attention, making it into the top 10 of YouTube Music’s daily popular music videos.

Thirteen years ago, Bestie told this publication, “‘Conditions for Love’ is easy to sing along to, dance to, and mimic, so we believe it will reach a wider audience.” While they couldn’t have predicted it at the time, it’s fascinating that this “easy-to-mimic” charm has resonated perfectly with the short-form video era 13 years later.
The song is characterized by lyrics that wittily explore the qualities of an ideal partner in the style of girls’ casual chatter, along with a lively rhythm and a catchy melody. Even after their promotional activities ended, it has maintained its longevity by consistently being discussed among K-pop fans as a so-called “hidden gem” (a masterpiece listened to in secret).
Above all, the contrast between 2013 and 2026 is what makes this resurgence so special. Back then, in a music industry crowded with heavyweight artists like IU, SHINee, and T-ara, Bestie expressed a modest goal: “We’d be happy if we could stay within the top 50 on the charts.” Thirteen years later, the song reached the top of the charts thanks to platforms—such as algorithms and short-form videos—that didn’t even exist back then.
The rule that a song’s first-week performance determined its fate is now a thing of the past. Even songs that were once considered finished can become part of the current music scene again if they’re discovered by a new generation through YouTube, TikTok, and Reels.
The four members’ wish to “penetrate the hearts of the public” took longer than expected to come true. The resurgence of “Conditions of Love,” which has now reached the top it couldn’t achieve during its original run, is still ongoing.
