[Edaily Reporter Kim Yu-seong ] NC (NCsoftCorporation(036570)) is expanding its portfolio of new titles beyond its traditional focus on massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) to include shooters, subculture-themed games, and casual games.
On the 25th (local time), NC (xml-ph-0001@deepl.internal) unveiled three new titles—‘Aion 2,’ ‘Cinder City,’ and ‘Like or Die’—at “Opening Night Live (ONL),” the pre-opening event for Gamescom 2026 held in Cologne, Germany.
“Aion 2” is an MMORPG that builds on NC’s flagship intellectual property (IP), “Aion,” and is tasked with driving the global expansion of this core IP. “Cinder City” leverages the open-world shooter genre to target new markets beyond its existing user base. With the addition of “Like or Die,” which was unveiled for the first time at this event, the company is accelerating its efforts toward genre diversification.
“Guild Wars 3,” developed by ArenaNet, NC’s North American subsidiary, will also be showcased in the Gamescom B2B hall to expand engagement with local partners in North America and Europe. At Tokyo Game Show 2026 this coming September, the company will unveil the subculture RPG “Astrae Oratio” as part of its strategy to target the Japanese market.
The company is also expanding its pipeline of new titles. NC plans to sequentially release approximately 10 new games from the second half of this year through 2027, including “Aion 2,” “Cinder City,” “Guild Wars 3,” and “Horizon Steel Frontiers.” This strategy aims to reduce reliance on specific IPs and MMORPGs while broadening its range of genres and platforms.
The company is also cultivating mobile casual games as a new growth engine. It has expanded its business through acquisitions of companies such as LiHuhu, Springcoms, and JustPlay, and in the second quarter, mobile casual game revenue reached 169.7 billion won, accounting for 22% of total revenue.
NC plans to diversify its global business structure by simultaneously expanding its existing core IPs globally, pioneering new genres, and growing its mobile casual business.
