Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Le Mai Hung, along with officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (PVN), visited South Korea for a three-day, two-night itinerary from the 26th to the 28th to attend the Korea-Vietnam Joint Industrial Committee and hold meetings with relevant government agencies. During their visit, they met with DaewooEngineering&Construction on the 26th.

At the meeting, Chairman Jeong emphasized, “Over the past 30-odd years, DaewooEngineering&Construction has carried out various projects in Vietnam and grown alongside the country’s economic development. Through this, we have built a deep understanding of Vietnam and established an extensive local network.” He added, “Based on this experience and capability, we aim to go beyond simply participating in projects as a foreign company and make a substantial contribution to the expansion of Vietnam’s nuclear power and energy infrastructure through localization.”

He also noted, “DaewooEngineering&Construction is participating as the lead contractor in the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant project in the Czech Republic. From the project preparation stage onward, we have been striving to expand the participation of local companies by identifying local specialized firms and establishing cooperative relationships.” He continued, “If we participate in Vietnam’s nuclear power project, we will go beyond simply carrying out construction work; we will share DaewooEngineering&Construction’s nuclear power plant construction technology and experience, and actively support the improvement of local companies’ technical and quality capabilities as well as their competitiveness.”

DaewooEngineering&Construction explained that it is steadily laying the groundwork for localization in the nuclear power sector based on its deep understanding of Vietnam’s industrial environment and business conditions. In particular, the company elaborated that it is exploring cooperation opportunities in various areas—including workforce training, technical cooperation, and the establishment of local supply chains—to help strengthen the expertise of local Vietnamese personnel in the nuclear power sector and enhance the country’s industrial competitiveness.

A DaewooEngineering&Construction official said, “Based on the local insight and network we have built up through our long-term business operations in Vietnam, we are actively preparing to participate in energy projects, including not only nuclear power plants but also LNG terminals,” adding, “We will continue to seek various ways to collaborate with the government and local companies so that we can contribute to Vietnam’s stable energy supply and the expansion of its power infrastructure.”
