[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] SMEC CO.,LTD(099440), a company specializing in machine tools and automation solutions, is partnering with ShinTech, a company specializing in CNC and motion control, to develop next-generation intelligent machine tools and physical AI-based autonomous manufacturing solutions.

(Photo courtesy of SMEC CO.,LTD) The two companies plan to jointly develop next-generation machine tools and autonomous manufacturing solutions by combining SMEC CO.,LTD’s machine tool design, manufacturing, and machining application technologies with HANTECH LTD.’s CNC, servo and drive, motion control, and robotics technologies.
Key areas of cooperation include AI-based control, software-defined machine tools, robotic automation, and unmanned autonomous manufacturing cells. The companies are also considering the joint development and demonstration of 5-axis machining, equipment specialized for semiconductors and quartz, and robot-based machine tending.
Headquartered in Taiwan, Sintek is a motion control specialist that supplies CNC controllers, industrial robots, and smart factory solutions. According to the company’s own figures, it recorded a market share of over 20% in the Chinese CNC market during the first half of this year.
SMEC CO.,LTD plans to leverage this collaboration to advance its transformation into a K-Physical AI-based autonomous manufacturing platform company, as outlined in its mid- to long-term strategy, “Vision 2035.”
The two companies plan to first conduct technology integration and verify performance and reliability in South Korea to secure customer references. They then plan to expand the scope of their joint commercialization efforts to China and Vietnam.
Kwon Oh-hyuk, CEO of SMEC CO.,LTD, stated, “By combining SMEC CO.,LTD’s machine tool and machining technologies with HANTECH LTD.’s motion control and robotics technologies, we will jointly develop next-generation intelligent machine tools and autonomous manufacturing solutions.” He added, “After validating the technology and securing customer references in Korea, we will translate these efforts into business success in the Chinese and Vietnamese markets.”
