The initiative aims to lower language barriers in industrial settings and improve the accuracy of safety training and on-site communication.

FLITTO Inc., an AI data and solutions company, announced on the 9th that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Industrial Safety Association (KISA) to provide AI-based multilingual interpretation and translation support for the prevention of workplace accidents among foreign workers.

This agreement was initiated to establish a system for accurately conveying occupational safety and health information by combining the Korea Industrial Safety Association’s expertise in occupational safety and health education and technology with FLITTO Inc.’s AI-powered multilingual translation and interpretation technology.

FLITTO Inc. is currently applying its AI interpretation and translation solution, “Live Translation,” to safety training sessions for foreign workers. Based on the positive feedback from these sessions, the company has decided to significantly expand the scope of its collaboration with the Korea Industrial Safety Association.

Under this agreement, the two companies will establish a real-time multilingual interpretation and translation support system for the occupational safety and health training of foreign workers. They will create a multilingual DB of specialized terminology in the field of occupational safety and health and continuously manage its quality.

Additionally, they will integrate a real-time interpretation and translation API into the Korea Industrial Safety Association’s AI-based industrial safety management solution. The two organizations will also jointly participate in support programs run by the central and local governments and pursue collaboration to disseminate the results of their work.

Multilingual Support for Safety Training and TBM

In the education sector, the companies will design interpretation and translation methods tailored to specific types of training, such as group sessions and on-site training. They plan to implement an operational system that allows workers in multinational workplaces to simultaneously receive safety training in their native languages.

Language support will be expanded, focusing on the languages of the main source countries under the Employment Permit System (E-9). The company plans to build a multilingual DB of specialized terms—such as those related to the Industrial Safety and Health Act, hazardous and risky factors, and work processes—and incorporate them into the solution to continuously improve translation accuracy.

The Korea Industrial Safety Association’s AI-based management solution will be integrated with a real-time interpretation and translation API. This will enable the immediate provision of key safety procedures—such as risk assessments, pre-work safety inspections (TBM), safety work permits, and accident notification—in multiple languages across web and mobile platforms.

The two companies will also gradually enhance features designed to facilitate communication between Korean and foreign workers. They plan to expand the scope of application to affiliates of the Korea Industrial Safety Association in the future.

They will also jointly participate in government and local government support programs aimed at preventing workplace accidents involving foreign workers. Based on performance data from the use of translation and interpretation services, they will also pursue external activities—such as policy recommendations and the sharing of best practices—to address safety blind spots for foreign workers.
