[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] LGELECTRONICS employees are establishing a vocational training facility for low-income youth in Myanmar and providing daily necessities to nearby residents.

LGELECTRONICS announced on the 9th that its “Life’s Good Volunteer Corps,” composed of employees, is conducting volunteer activities at the Takeda Education Center in Yangon, Myanmar, from the 7th through the 11th.

The Takeda Education Center is a facility that operates educational programs and community development projects for low-income youth. This marks the second time the LGELECTRONICS volunteer team has visited the center, following their visit last year.

The volunteer team is setting up a training facility and a rest area in the center’s new wing where youth can receive vocational training. They are repainting the interior and exterior of the building, painting murals, and repairing the outer fence.

The new wing, where the training facilities and rest areas will be located, is the same building that LGELECTRONICS employees helped construct last year. Following their assistance with the building’s construction at that time, the company is continuing its support this year by equipping the interior with educational facilities.

About 30 employees with diverse experiences and talents—such as those with home repair experience, mural contest winners, and YouTube channel operators—participated in the volunteer effort. Four college students selected as outstanding participants from LGELECTRONICS’ “ESG Academy,” a program for university students’ community service, also joined the team.

In addition to improving educational facilities, the volunteer team is also supporting the daily lives of local residents. They plan to personally assemble 400 kits containing daily necessities such as rice and toothpaste and distribute them to low-income families near the education center.

Ha Mi-kyung, Head of HS AX and Data Platform at LGELECTRONICS, who participated in the volunteer effort, said, “It is meaningful to apply the experience I’ve gained over the past year through home-repair volunteer work in places where help is needed,” adding, “I hope this contributes to students studying in a better environment.”

Since 2019, LGELECTRONICS has been conducting overseas volunteer activities primarily in emerging Asian countries, in collaboration with employees from its local subsidiaries. Ahead of the Chuseok holiday this month, the Life’s Good Volunteer Corps plans to continue its efforts to support neighbors domestically as well.
