[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] KTCorporation (CEO Park Yoon-young) is accelerating its “AX (AI Transformation)” initiative, which applies AI to implement business innovation ideas from frontline operations into actual workflows. Rather than simply increasing the number of AI agents, the strategy involves identifying tasks needed on the ground, redesigning them using AI, and rolling out proven methods company-wide.

KTCorporation(030200)According to the report, a total of 122 work innovation ideas have been submitted by 15 organizations through the “AX Design Clinic” to date. Among these, automation of data collection and processing accounted for the largest share with 71 cases. This was followed by 33 cases involving improvements to approval and review processes, and 12 cases related to report and dashboard generation.

The most common request from frontline staff was not for new AI features per se, but rather for ways to reduce repetitive tasks and streamline existing work processes. This is why KTCorporation is shifting the focus of its AI adoption from the technology itself to “work transformation.”

The AX Design Clinic is a program in which frontline staff and in-house AX experts collaborate to identify pain points in work processes and jointly design potential AI applications. It provides support ranging from business analysis and workflow design to selecting implementation methods and building and validating AI agents and automation solutions.

As companies expand their use of AI, new challenges are emerging on the front lines regarding where to apply AI and how to transform existing workflows. KTCorporation’s strategy is to first analyze the characteristics of specific tasks and relevant data, then apply appropriate technologies—such as AI agents and automation—to ensure that AI adoption translates into tangible improvements in actual workflows.

In particular, KTCorporation is focusing on securing cases where results have been verified in actual business operations rather than simply “increasing the number” of Agent AI agents. The plan is to establish verified business methods as standard workflows and reusable models so that other organizations can utilize them as well. The company expects this to reduce the inefficiency of each organization developing separate agents with similar functions and to help accumulate AX assets.

Actual implementation in the workplace has already begun.

The SCM Division is implementing the “Integrated Procurement and Contracting Process Guide Agent,” which provides guidance on the regulations, procedures, and operational standards required for procurement and software (SW) service contracts. This agent offers comprehensive guidance on procurement and contracting procedures, operational standards, relevant forms, and system usage, while also allowing users to identify the responsible departments and follow-up procedures. The goal is to reduce repetitive inquiries while simultaneously accumulating operational knowledge as an organizational asset.

The Legal Affairs Office is automating repetitive scheduling tasks—from receiving consultation requests to assigning and coordinating schedules, as well as handling changes, cancellations, and notifications—through the “Everyday Legal Consultation Reservation and Scheduling Agent.” The focus is on reducing the administrative burden on staff and improving the speed and accuracy of consultation operations.

In the finance sector, an Agent is being utilized that allows users to query, compare, and analyze key management information—such as performance results, investment status, and budget status—in natural language based on IR materials. This supports data-driven decision-making by reducing the time spent on repetitive data searches and organization and enabling users to quickly access necessary management information.

KTCorporation plans to expand the use cases identified and validated through the AX Design Clinic to other organizations and group companies. The strategy is to accelerate AI-driven business innovation by disseminating validated work methods as company-wide standards, moving beyond the use of AI by individual employees or specific organizations.

Jeong Chan-ho, Executive Vice President and Head of KTCorporation’s IT Strategy Division, stated, “The AX Design Clinic is not a program aimed at creating a large number of AI agents, but rather one focused on properly designing agents and work methods that are essential for frontline operations and verifying their actual effectiveness.” He added, “We will connect ideas from the front lines to tangible work innovations and accumulate and disseminate verified cases as the organization’s AX assets to drive a qualitative advancement in AI-based work practices.”
