[Edaily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] The SK hynix labor union will hold another general vote on the tentative collective bargaining agreement on the 15th and 16th. This comes three weeks after the tentative agreement reached by management and labor was rejected.

According to industry sources on the 9th, the SK hynix labor union is scheduled to hold an emergency extraordinary delegates’ meeting on the 10th to explain the tentative agreement and conduct a general vote among union members on the 15th and 16th.

Details regarding what has changed from the previous tentative agreement are expected to be disclosed at the delegates’ meeting on the 10th.

Previously, management and the union had reached a tentative agreement last month centered on a 6.3% wage increase and the distribution of performance bonuses (PS)—40% in cash and 60% in company stock. However, on the 25th of last month, an electronic vote on the tentative agreement held by SK hynix’s full-time (production) workers’ union resulted in its rejection, with 50.08% voting against it. The margin between the “yes” and “no” votes was a mere 25 votes.

Following the rejection of the tentative agreement, management and the union resumed negotiations and have now reached a new agreement. They aim to finalize a deal before Chuseok.

Kwak No-jeong, President and CEO of SK hynix, spoke at the “THE Communication Event” held on the 2nd at the Bundang Campus in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, regarding performance-based bonuses and other matters. “We reached a broad agreement last year, and we will work with our employees to refine the details,” he said, adding, “This is a process of building a better future together and creating a sustainable company.”

He further emphasized, “We will strive to ensure that the company and its employees can grow together with a shared sense of pride.”
