[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] NCT’s WISH has once again broken its own sales record in Japan. Just one month after receiving a Platinum certification, the group achieved Double Platinum status, proving the growth of its local fanbase with concrete numbers. NCT WISH (Photo: SM Entertainment) According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 10th, NCT WISH’s Japanese single “YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL,” released on July 15, surpassed 500,000 cumulative shipments as of August, earning a Double Platinum certification. Previously, the single had received Platinum certification after surpassing 250,000 cumulative shipments as of July. With shipments doubling in just one month, the group set a new record for their best performance to date in Japan. This achievement goes beyond simply moving up a certification tier. It signifies that NCT WISH, who have consistently maintained their local activities in Japan since their debut, have now moved beyond a one-time buzz to secure a stable base of album buyers. In particular, 500,000 copies is a symbolic figure that demonstrates both the size of their fanbase and its purchasing power in the Japanese market. They are also maintaining their presence at major local events. NCT WISH will perform at the “Rakuten GirlsAward 2026 AUTUMN/WINTER,” taking place on the 26th at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. This marks their return to the stage for the first time in two years since their debut performance in 2024. NCT WISH is currently preparing for a comeback, aiming to release their fourth mini-album this October. Attention is also focused on whether their rapidly growing fanbase and sales momentum in Japan will carry over to their next activities in Korea.
