[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] On KBS2’s “Immortal Songs,” Lee Seung-gi revealed that “Father”—a song widely known as PSY’s hit—is actually a track from his own debut album.
The episode of KBS2’s “Immortal Songs” airing on the 19th will feature the youth band AGAMI, the representative fourth-generation boy group CRAVITY, world-class dancer Honey J, the leading figure in emotional rap Mad Clown, “Trot Prince” Son Tae-jin, and acclaimed vocalist Ailee. Lee Seung-gi and Forestella, who wowed the audience in Part 1 with their exceptional vocal skills and stage presence, will take the stage once again.
On the show, Lee Seung-gi spoke about “Father”—a song widely known to the public through Psy’s version—saying, “It was originally a track on my first album.” He added, “Psy first gave me this song when I was in high school, and after I sang it again later, it became a beloved classic in Psy’s voice as well.”
Lee Seung-gi, who recently became a father of two after the birth of his son, shared details of his preparation process following his performance of “Father,” saying, “I wondered how Psy could have written such poignant lyrics. I got choked up while practicing.” He also added, “I was worried that if I rapped, it might turn into an embarrassing moment, so Mad Clown helped me out.”
Lee Seung-gi married Lee Da-in—who is also well-known as the daughter of actress Kyun Mi-ri—in 2023. He welcomed his first daughter in 2024 and his second son last July. Attention is focused on what kind of performance Lee Seung-gi, now a real-life “father,” will deliver.
“Immortal Songs” airs on the 19th at 6:05 p.m.
