According to distributor NEW on the 28th, the film “The Final Interview” has confirmed its release date for November 4.
“Final Interview” tells the story of six job applicants gathered for a final interview who discover mysterious envelopes containing revelations about each other, leading them to suspect one another and plunge into confusion. Director Kim Jung-hoon, who captivated audiences with his genre-bending direction in films such as “The Pirates: The Goblin Flag,” “Detective: The Beginning,” and “A Petty Romance,” is at the helm.
Rising stars Jo Yi-hyun, Kim Jae-won, Shin Seung-ho, Kang Yu-seok, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Bae Kang-hee will star as the six candidates who made it to the final interview. “Moon Hye-in” (Jo Yi-hyun), an observer who calmly assesses situations; “Han Jin-woo” (Kim Jae-won), an idealist who approaches the world with an open mind; “Baek Seung-bin” (Shin Seung-ho), a hands-on leader with tenacity forged through sports; the natural mediator with a calm demeanor, “Lee Hee-chan” (Kang Yu-seok); the enigmatic strategist, “Jeon Yo-han” (Gwak Dong-yeon); and the perfectionist with impeccable credentials, “Cha Ju-won” (Bae Kang-hee)—all work together as a team.

“Final Interview” unfolds against the backdrop of the global IT company “Spira Links” amid an extreme job market crisis. Only six applicants have made it to the final round after overcoming a staggering 5,000-to-1 competition ratio. Having prepared together for a month-long team discussion mission while dreaming of all passing, they have forged a strong bond of camaraderie. However, on the day of the final interview, they are faced with an unexpected challenge that begins to crack their once-solid relationship.
The interviewer responsible for evaluating and selecting the successful candidate is nowhere to be found in the interview room. In a space equipped solely with observation cameras on all sides, the six candidates must personally select just one final successful candidate. Now both candidates and evaluators, they are thrown into a brutal death match where they must eliminate their peers with their own hands to survive.
They have only two hours to select a single successful candidate. Amid the sound of the timer’s alarm and the red lights of the surveillance cameras, the rapidly dwindling time pushes the candidates’ psychological pressure to the limit. Although they can open the door and leave at any time, doing so would mean losing their chance at success, so the interview room becomes a “voluntary locked room” where the six have chosen to confine themselves.
To select one successful candidate within the two-hour time limit, the applicants agree to hold a total of five public votes at 30-minute intervals. This voting system, in which votes are cast under real names rather than anonymously, constantly triggers fierce games of psychological warfare, solidarity, and ruthless betrayal among the applicants. Forced to make a choice with every vote, a nerve-wracking standoff ensues where they cannot let their guard down for even a moment.
There is only one final candidate, but as the voting continues, a mysterious envelope of unknown origin is discovered, and the situation spirals into a full-blown battle of revelations. Every time the envelope is opened, secrets hidden behind the resumes are exposed, and “truth stripped of context” acts as a sharp weapon that brings each other down.
“The Final Interview” has been officially invited to the Panorama section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival.
