[E-Daily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] SamsungElectroMechanics has signed a long-term supply agreement (LTA) worth approximately 290 billion won with a major global corporation for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and inductors used in artificial intelligence (AI) servers. The company is expanding its supply to meet the growing demand for high-capacity, high-reliability passive components, driven by increased power consumption resulting from the higher performance of AI servers.

SamsungElectroMechanics announced on the 29th that it has signed a supply contract worth 285 billion won (approximately $210 million) with a major global corporation for MLCCs and inductors used in AI servers. The contract term is one year, from January 1 to December 31 of next year. The contract value represents 2.5% of the company’s consolidated revenue from last year.

This contract marks the fifth long-term supply agreement SamsungElectroMechanics has announced this year. The identity of the contracting party was disclosed only as a “major global company” to protect business confidentiality.

MLCCs are key passive components that regulate the flow of current in electronic circuits to ensure stability and prevent signal interference between components. AI servers and data centers require high-capacity, high-reliability MLCCs due to their high computational performance, which results in significant power consumption and power fluctuations.

Inductors are also components that stabilize power supply in response to current fluctuations and reduce noise generated during the power conversion process. As power consumption in AI servers increases, the importance of inductors with high-current and high-efficiency characteristics is growing.

SamsungElectroMechanics is advancing its high-capacity, high-reliability MLCC technology to meet the power requirements of AI servers, while simultaneously expanding the development of high-current, high-efficiency, and high-reliability inductor products.

A SamsungElectroMechanics official stated, “As the global AI market becomes more technologically advanced, the required levels of MLCC performance and reliability are also rising,” adding, “We are expanding our collaboration with global customers based on our differentiated technological capabilities and stable supply capacity.”
